Well, it's again time to create a thread for the last of this year's major tournaments (and an opportunity for the golf-hating douches of the board to express again their stupidity and bad taste ). The course looks spectacular and I'm actually hoping for a very windy weather so that it becomes a truly a test even for the top golfers of the world. If the winds get bad, at least the long par 3's and some of the 4's can become ridiculously difficult. Tiger and Mickelson sprayed a little of their teeshots but nothing too bad. Tiger putted imo very well and with better luck could be 4 or 5 under now. Els started well too.
hoping I will get a chance to watch a lot of this. saw some yesterday and the course looks great. hopefully tiger is back
Wow. Dustin Johnson just keeps on choking and then recovers with ridiculous shots only to miss the last put. I'm shocked if he still can come back and win. Edit. And things are getting worse and worse for Dustin (if he gets penalized). Golf rules can be pretty unfair sometimes
The concept of allowing fans and media into something defined as a bunker is borderline insane. I don't care what the rule is. If the rule is insane, grow a pair and say to hell with it.
That's my problem with the ruling too. If it was a "waste bunker" then why is the entire gallery standing in it? To rob him of a shot at a major when you are allowing the gallery to stand in said "bunker" is ridiculous.
Well if you think this was bad, imagine if he had made that last par put. Anyway, I really like Kaymer's coolness and demeanor. Maybe he isn't as entertaining as Bubba but the dude looks like he has ice in his veins. Maybe it's a German thing.
On that last playoff hole, everything has gone wrong for Bubba Watson that could go wrong. Kaymer played beautifully, and won. The depth of talent in pro golf is unbelievable right now. Every major, it seems some one like Kaymer or Louis Oosthuizen comes from seemingly nowhere to win.
That was a great sunday of golf. Much more dramatic than the last couple majors. Good to see the young guys playing at such a high level.
Definitely. And the course was great for a major. I have a feeling that in after it's played there a few more times, we'll start thinking of Whistling Straits as the great location for the PGA Championship, just like we think of Pebble Beach for the US Open.
Dustin Johnson got robbed a chance to win it. That bunker even had some grass on it, you couldnt see the straight line that usually separates the grass from the bunker, and how you let people stand in it.
Dustin Johnson made a stupid mistake. It was in the Local Rules sheet handed out before the tourney. If you watch the replay, he knows it as soon as he did it. He walks up to the ball and grounds his club and then backs off as to say "oh sh**" and then re-sets up over the ball hovering his club. Sorry dude, easy mistake but you made it. He probably should have called it on himself. I was in a match play event before where the guy drove his cart inside the red hazard line .... grounded equipment dude , you lose this hole. 34 rules, 78 pages, know them. http://www.usga.org/Rule-Books/Rules-of-Golf/Rule-01/ The Ryder Cup will be at Whistling Straits in 2020 .... finally a reason to keep on living.
you gotta feel bad for dustin but he's got to know the rules. especially after they emphasized it to the players. would have really sucked if he had made the put. I was pulling for him, hope he pulls one out eventually wasn't that his replacement caddie? Did they say his normal one was at home with a newborn?
Rules are rules. Follow them. That said, it was a very entertaining/dramatic finish for the Championship. That course is a BEAST! Holy crap.
