What a dips***. I'm not the overprotective sort when it comes to animals, but this is just plain stupid. He knew he could hit the bird.

He should get his a** kicked simply for calling himself "Tripp". I'll bet he wears 3 polo shirts at the same time with no undershirt.

I don't think just because he used a golf ball instead of a bullet he should get any favors.

I think it's pretty stupid that one of the film crew members felt it was somehow likely he would hit the bird. Many pro golfers could spend all day trying to hit that shot and not make it. And how many golfers can hit the ball in the hole from 100 yards away? When that happens in tournaments...even if the guy that does it is a nobody, the Sportscenter people play it because it RARELY happens. It is far from easy, and that's done by rolling the ball in, not hitting the hole on the fly, which seems to me to be even more difficult.

I mean, the guy is clearly a dumbass for spending so much time trying to hit the bird...but I don't knnow if I'd charge him for it.

I would have just settled for an eagle.

Why is everyone getting their feathers ruffled over this?

I wonder how much he charges for lessons. Lord knows my game needs the work, I could use some of his accuracy.

Normally I can symphasize, since I'm sure all of us have gotten annoyed at some animal before, and threw a pebble or something at it just out of frustration.

But if the guy was taking repeated shots and making jokes about it... that's totally different.

What if he had that hawk fight someone else's hawk, and if it didn't win he electrocuted and/or drowned it?

yeah, hitting it with a golf ball is so humane

    ----> :rolleyes:

look not comparing vick's fighting ring to a guy killing a hawk on a golf course, just demonstrating the hypocricy of the outrage.

I think it's more the fact that he was intentionally trying to hit the bird. If he had just given up, they wouldn't have filed "attempted..." charges. He killed a protected bird and laughed about it...and his name is Tripp.

They both got charged for their crimes.

If he was breeding and killing them there would be more of an outcry.

But you would only care if he had killed a black crow.

That would have been a hate crime.

exactly. killing an endangered species is much worse than killing dogs. im not saying killing dogs isnt bad, but the punishment for killing an endangered species should be much worse

on a side note.......they eat dogs in china :)

If this was Phil Mickelson, this would probably be a bigger story.

Just like if Travis Johnson ran a dog fighting circuit, it probably wouldn't be all over the news like it was with Mike Vick.

Ya think he used a 2-iron for a shot like that?

I mean, usually when your target is 75 yards away, you pull out your wedge. But that would give way too much loft, right? A club with very little loft would be needed, I would think.

Even if he didn't kill the bird I would be pissed. Its not even about the bird. What the hell is this guy doing trying to hit a bird? What is he 15yrs old? Seriously? What a douche bag.
