Azubuike is the D-league's leading scorer with a 26.2 ppg average for the Fort Worth Flyers. He is expected to give Golden State's banged up backcourt some depth. ____________________________________________________________ I didn't know he is doing that well in D-League... Congrats to him!
That's fantastic news for Buike! He deserves a break. Poor guy has had a rotten couple of years. Hopefully this will be a "in" for him to stay in the bigs!
Congrats, Azubuike. He should gain some decent figures under Coach Nelson. Hope this is the turning point of his career.
I wish him all the best, partly because of his misfortune in the previous couple of years, but I will just never understand how he can average 26.2 points in the D-League but look so offensively inept in the NBA. Yes, obviously the competition isn't the same, but that doesn't magically give him a jumper or a crossover, which are kind of necessary if a perimeter player is going to average 25+ in any league. I don't know...it just seems like he could at least put up a 6 or 7 ppg average in "real" games but I doubt he will based on what I saw in our preseason games. Of course, if anybody is going to bring out his potential, it's probably either Don Nelson or Phil Jackson, so I suppose time will tell.
He'll be pretty good in Golden State. He'll get lots of assisted looks close to the basket. He'll do fine in any situation where he doesn't have to create anything or hit an outside shot.
He will do better than you expect for Golden State. They are a run and gun team, correct? Buike is one of the best at converting on a fast offense, but less successful in the set half court. Which is why I think he struggled a bit in adjusting with us in the preseason. Buike can shoot a jumper and he can make a move to the basket, but he is best at doing both in a transition offense. I hope he does well! I am going to have to follow Golden State a bit more closely to watch how he does.
Or at least figued out a way to pick him up as a replacement for Snyder. When are we supposed to get that medical thing for Sura so we can drop him from the roster?
His debut performance: Code: Field Goals Rebounds min fgm-a 3pm-a ftm-a off def tot ast pf st to bs pts 16:32 2-4 0-1 0-0 0 3 3 3 1 2 0 0 4 Not bad at all.
From www.Rotoworld.com Kelenna Azubuike-G- Warriors Jan. 2 - 10:54 pm et Kelenna Azubuike had four points, three boards, two assists and two steals on 2-of-4 shooting in his debut for the Warriors on Tuesday. He was brought in today as an injury replacement for Jason Richardson, Monta Ellis and Anthony Roberson and looked good in this game. Don't pick him up, but keep your eye on him. good for him!
so let me clarify the Warriors passed on Wagner...But they were willing to sign Kelenna Azuibuike (if I just spelt that wrong I really dont care) Righto.
