If talks go badly, I would do this deal in a heartbeat.

Who from our side would you give up to match Jamison's MAX contract?

And also, who would you draft w/ the #3 slot? It would seem the best players available there would be Dunleavy/Niko/Butler - all 3's who play the same position as Jamison.

I think I'd do it too as long as we could dump a big salary (Mo or Rice...preferably Mo). I think we would have to dump some salary to make it work regardless...Gater/Aelliot...what is the cap situation with Jamison if we were to dump Mo or Rice...would it work?

Gimp...to me, thats the beauty of it...we dump some of our big earners for a guy,(while he may not be worth the max compared to some of the other max players in the league), is a decent player.

Jamison is not a 3- that experiment has failed. We have no use for an undersized PF that can't play D.

Although this is all academic, you don't necessarily have to keep Jamison and/or the #3 pick.

I think Jamison plays more of a "4" game anyway, doesn't he?

Well, if we get rid of Mo T and/or Rice, and draft Butler or Dunleavy, we wouldn't really have a glut anywhere, especially if we trade KT. However, I don't put much stock in positions any more. I think you can be just as successful having 2 above average PFs and a average to below average center.

If memory serves me correct, (and im basing this on the past couple of fantasy basketball seasons), Jamison can definitely play the 4 and played very well there when Fortson was hurt last year.

Fellas...the bottom line is would you trade either Mo or Rice for Jamison? I think the answer is "yes". The draft pick swap (assuming we arent taking Ming), is irrelevant since we aren't taking Jason Williams. If the reports lately are correct, and we would consider Dunlaevy or Butler at the 1 if Ming falls through, then we would get them anyway at the 3 and at the same time, trade Mo or Rice for Jamison.

We already have a tweener in Eddie Griffin. I don't see Jamison as much of an upgrade from Maurice Taylor, definitely not enough to give up Ming for him. The #3 is nice but as pimp said it would just be used to get a player that plays Jamisons position and there would still be a gigantic hole at the center position. I don't this team will ever get anywhere with Jamison playing the small forward position and Cato playing center. Go with Ming!

Read the article....this scenario is a suggestion based on the fact that things would not work out with Ming. Obviously this is a moot point if the Ming situation is favorable to us

So the deal would be - Glen Rice, Mo Taylor and #1 for Antawn Jamison and #1.
This could work, salaries are pretty close.
Maybe they could add Foyle or something, if they want Jay Williams so badly since the Rockets won't have center other then Cato on their team.

    NJR -

Rice + KT or Collier is close.

    JAMISON - $10,625,000 - (5 years @ $66.4m; PO yr 6 @ $17.3m).
    DAMPIER - $6,858,500
    FORTSON - $4,935,065
    FOYLE - $4,400,000

    RICE - $9,200,000
    TAYLOR - $7,150,000
    CATO - $6,696,000
    KT - $1,557,683
    COLLIER- $1,369,440

I'm staying out of this one. Would anyone rather have Sprewell + #7 + NY's 1st next year (prob'ly top 3 protected) + NY takes Rice?
Steep price but NY really wants Yao.

Well, I still wouldn't do the trade. I'd prefer dealing with the Clippers. The Warriors really don't have anyone that I would be interested in.

No way, I think Griffin will be better - for this team - than high scoring, undersized, little-D playing Jamison. If Jamison cannot play with Fortson at the PF (and he has made it known), I don't want chemistry problems here with him and Griff.

Thanks Gater... I like Spre better than Jamison as well...I guess we could take Gooden or Wilcox at the #7 since Spre obviously cant play the 4 if we did a deal with the Knicks...the 1st rounder next year would be huge since we lose ours
