I was browsing through the sites, and came across Golden State has a Yao Ming BIg 3 Mini Plan and a Yao Ming Big 7 Mini Plan. They also have a Jordan Super Plan. If ya wanna see it go to www.warriors.com and click on Mini Plans sales. I think this is funny. So we have Yao listed in the same page as Jordan! :D

All those teams, except Chicago and Los Angeles.

I mean, ANYONE will take Ming for free. But if they had a choice, Ming wouldn't eb the choice.

As a fit for their current team, The Bulls probably would rather have JW over Yao Ming.

Sane, I think it's only L. A. Don't you remember the speculation on how badly Krause wanted Yao? Curry may be a commanding big man when he matures, but he'll never have either Yao's height or his skills (passing, range, etc.)

If Vlade were entering his prime, Sacramento might have qualified (in the sense that they might have traded the #1 and drafted someone else if they had it)

    Funny observation, Tx

Maybe WE wouldn't rather have Curry. That's fine. We can think whatever we want. But many many many people would rather have Curry. By many, I'm thinking 80% or more of Chicago fans.

If any team in the league had the #1 pick in the draft, a lot of them wouldn't have picked Ming. Not that they'd be right or wrong, it's just that, they wouldn't.

You make it sound like this: Everyone in the league wishes they had Shawn Marion. But when you have to give up kobe for Marion, then you don't want it anymore.

Of course they will promote Yao Ming. "Chinatown" ring a bell. He'll probably draw in a large amount of "new" Chinese fans. Smart marketing.

Who cares what fans want, and why are chicago fans supposedly enamored with a ground bound high schooler who scored 6 a game? More GM's would take ming than would not, including Jerry Krause.

Although it doesn't really matter in the end which player a team would pick #1, I am convinced that most GMs who slammed Yao or acted as if he wasn't that great were flat-out lying.

I have nothing against Jay-Will but he's only 6'0" and he's already complaining about being a bad fit for the triangle offense (I know, I know, he hasn't even played an NBA game that matters yet).

For example: Jerry West saying, "Yao is probably worth about the #7 pick." Uh-hunh. yeah. Riiiiiiight.

What is the ONE spot on Memphis that is lacking? OK, I'll go ahead and answer. Center. And so on.

Who would they have picked? The Rockets were flooded with calls for the #1 pick and Yao Ming. In fact Chicago was so confident in Eddy Curry that they did everything they could to trade up for the #1 pick and Yao Ming.

Absolutely. If anything, Ming is more polished, despite having no NBA experience, than Curry. But even if he weren't and all other things were equal, how many NBA GMS would choose a 6-10 290 lb. center over a 7-6 290 pound center? Zero. There's a reason why the Ming workout was in Chicago.

Mentioning Golden State reminded me of the Ralph Sampson trade for Joe Barry Carroll and Sleepy Floyd.

I hope Yao Ming lasts longer in Houston than Ralph Sampson did with the Rockets,

I was a Ralph Sampson fan before I became a Hakeem Olajuwon fan,

Most fan didn't know (and many outside of Houston still don't) how good Ming was. I didn't know either, in May. But most GMs and scouts knew. I think the vast majority of the teams would take Ming if they had the first pick.

I agree with ROXTXIA on this -- many NBA GMs were not really saying what they thought of Ming in order to create doubt in Houston, hoping that they could perhaps get a trade up to a #2 or 3 pick and grab him instead.

Over the next 15 years we will unquestionably see the truth in this matter -- everyone wanted Yao Ming, and WE got him!!

Why are you all so sensitive? Who cares what everyone else thinks first off and secondly why do you all act like you have to defend Ming when anyone who reads what you write has the same opinion? Ming is going to be a player, maybe he'll be great or maybe he'll be a glorified Bradley but nobody knows and making assertions like "he is better than Curry" really make no sense. If you like the guy great, but why make claim after claim that all boil down to just saying you like him, period?

Nobody is defending Ming, just responding with things we heard. Who cares what everyone else says, one of the people posting is a Rockets fan, it's not like we're responding to a Jazz fan or a Lakers fan.

because the entire thread was based on speculation anyway. Somebody said he was worse. We say he is a better prospect than Curry, and we think we are right and saying why. If nobody cared then this bbs would be pretty boring.
