The team listened to a media training presentation by former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer. Tuesday, the atmosphere got a little more raw. Former pro wrestler Bill Goldberg was present at camp. Goldberg, a former NFL player who lives in San Diego, was a very popular visitor among players. Linebacker Shawne Merriman, who himself participated in a wrestling event this summer in a cameo role, hugged Goldberg and spent several minutes with him. Chargers coach Norv Turner also spent some time with Goldberg. The two were together with the Los Angeles Rams in 1990 when Turner was an assistant coach and Goldberg was a rookie.

Who was the spoof wrestler of Goldberg? Was his name Gilburg or something like that? That stuff used to crack me up when he would make his entrance. LOL!
Man, wrestling in middle school. The memories. I remember Goldberg Jackhammering Hulk to win the title like it was yesterday. A modern day hero.
I was in college when Goldberg made his debut. My roommate and I were watching when he came out in his black speedo and boots against (IIRC) Hugh Morris(?). Thinking that Goldberg was just another journeyman wrestler that was the token scripted easy victory for the luchador. I was like "this is the part of the show that is like when Kirk, Spock, Bones, and a guy in a red uniform go down to the planet. You know who is about to have a real bad day." We laughed and laughed. and then he proceeded to whip the goofy bastards ass. We just sat there in shock after the Mean Gene "interview" when G just walked off and my roommate said "I think that dude got real pissed off and just went off script!"
