    Anyone got any suggestions?

We are staying at the Resort at Squaw creek.

My wife and I are dropping our two boys off at the grandparents and hitting the resort.

Temperatures are around 80 for a high and 40 for a low....perfect weather at this time of year.

I am thinking Golf and Casinos, with lots of rich foods.

Any of you guys and gals been there? And if so, any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    DD

No matter how much you may have enjoyed Bonanza as a child, don't visit the ponderosa.

Do take the tram up to high camp in squaw valley.

I was there 2 weeks ago. Its really a great time to be there now.

South Lake Tahoe is in Nevada and thus has all the gambling areas.

North Lake Tahoe is in California and is more of a scenic, outdoors type place.

I spent all my time in North Lake Tahoe. One of the greatest and awe-inspiring things I've done in a long time was to rent a bike and ride along the 15 mile path around the lake and the creek that surrounds it. I rode my bike all the way from North Lake to Squaw Valley.

Actually the path really doesn't border the lake, but the creek is very nice and peaceful. There are some rafters who enjoy the creek as well. I'm not as daring to go rafting but it looked really fun. The creek isn't too volatile from what I saw.

If you plan on driving from North Lake Tahoe to South Lake Tahoe its about 45 miles each way. It takes a good 1.5 hours or so, and is a real winding road.

I wouldn't suggest gambling in South Tahoe as the casino's aren't as good or nice as the ones in Reno. Reno is only 30 minutes away from North Lake Tahoe.

I really can't recommend any good restaraunts in North Lake, as I didnt see many. The town( Tahoe City) shuts down quite early in my opinion.

There is a good golf course in Incline Village. It is in North Tahoe.
I've never played there myself, but some friends of mine have. They say they view and course layout is spectacular.

Get ready to pay $2.50 for the cheapest gas anywhere around the lake.

If I can think of anything else about my latest trip, I'll post it later.

    Have fun. :)

It is beautiful in the summer as well.

One July a few yrs back, driving back from Yosemite, we came up to lake Tahoe from the South when the sun started to go down in the afternoon. The whole lake reflects the sun like a huge sheet of gold, the most manificient sight I have ever seen.

(Keep in mind I just came back from Yosemite, where there were no shortage of breath taking sights.)

On the south side of the Lake, near the Nevada/California border, there is a restaurant (in Heavenly) called Scusa. Italian place. Great non-traditional Italian food. I had a salmon carpaccio there made from freshwater salmon they caught in the Lake. Awesome!

I have also had very good luck with the $1 "Jokers Wild" slots and the video poker machines at Caesar's Palace in Lake Tahoe.

Yeah, I know. And with my knees it would prob be best for me to golf than ski.

I really enjoyed skiing at Squaw though. KT22 gets the adrenaline going.

    Two words, Mustang Ranch...;)

Did the Horse back thing, very nice, but we were suppose to go rafting, but the river was too high, so i'd suggest that...
