Thought this was interesting in Adelman's post practice interview today...

Guess it wasn't because he was hurting.. sounds like Chuck may be out of the rotation??

I sort of paraphrased, but I tried to get it as close to correct as possible.

Obviously I am not the right person to critique the idea... so... do we really want Scola, DA, JJ and Armstrong guarding the other team's best post players?

I mean, I like offense as much as the next person, but I don't want to see us giving up layups like they are lollipops at the bank.

this not going to sound good but i think it has to do with Chuck himself

I very well could be wrong on this but i believe chuck has logged the most minutes this season than he ever has in his career he just could be hitting some sort of "rookie wall"

also on a more sad front the chances of Chuck being on the team next year is pretty slim I think RA just wants to try to develop the guys out there that will be on the team a bit more. Jeffries and Armstrong bring a different aspect that the team has not had this year in shotblocking and size, sure they arent nearly as strong as chuck but I think their length will contribute overall to the team's defense more than Chuck's strength and individual defense

all that being said if the team needs one stop I would pray Chuck is in there.

Looks like Rick is experimenting. It is ironic that we put in a bigger player to go "small". Not sure what to think until we see how it goes but I would guess Chuck's D will be missed.

I think it depends on the type of opposing post player.

Great finesse post players need to be Chuck responsibility because he is great at knocking them off rhythm.

Let Armstrong, JJ etc. handle 2nd tier Big men.

Translation: We are screwed on defense with Scola/Martin/AB anyway, why not try to score more to give us a chance.

No he played about the same amount of minutes, if not more, the year he started next to Yao and Juwan Howard came off the bench. It's not minutes wearing him down. I thought last night it might be his knee, but no one from the team has said anything about it.

I think it may be just experimentation, but you might be right, coach may be testing out his replacements of those who have contracts for next season.

edit: sorry for the double post!

I'm sure this has been asked before but why can't Chuck learn to shoot a 15 foot jumper. It would be a tremendous help if our center could score outside of 3 feet from the basket.

Its about time! Took him long enough to realize that Hayes is a liability on offense! We need to see a starting lineup of this!
    Lowry/Brooks
    Martin/Budinger
    Ariza/Battier
    Scola/Hill
    Jeffries/Armstrong/Anderson/Hill/Hayes

    Seriously??

You somehow-or-the-other thought Adelman, who is one of the top 10 most winning-ist coaches in NBA history could not tell that Chuck couldn't shoot from outside 2 feet until just now?

    ReallY?

    wow, noobs ftw

I think they need to find out about Andersen, Armstrong, Jeffries and Hill, they know what Chuck brings, got to find out before the end of the year what the others bring too.

Now that Adelman and staff are locked up, and they see the writing on the wall for this year, I hope they use it wisely to develop some pieces.

I don't even care about the playoffs, this year.

I won't be surprised if Chuck is not resigned or is traded in the summer.

Teams have scouted Chuck. I said this a month or two ago. Opposing post players have now realized you're not going through Chuck Hayes and you're not going around him so you shoot over him. If you're a seven footer and you have a hook shot then Chuck is toast (see Chris Kaman). So now that Chuck's defense is not as potent as it was earlier in the season there isn't much reason to keep him in so much thanks to Jeffries demonstrating that he has the length, hustle and athleticism to be a good defender for the Rockets.

Looking to next season I think all these minutes for Hayes and Adelman gaining trust in him (especially as a passer from the post) is going to really pay for the Rockets. Again, I've said it before, but last season Adelman refused to play Hayes on nights when he could have really, really helped the team. I think next season you will see a coach who has much more confidence in Chuck and will sub him in for Yao much more readily.

I think we have found out all we need to know about Andersen. We're 55 games into the season and despite him showing some improvement I think he has shown that he is far from a rotation player on a playoff team.

Jeffries is worse than Chuck on offense.

Hayes is a situational player in the nba. He's a 12 minute guy at best and he's starting for the rockets. The rockets dont have enough good offensive weapons to offset hayes, battier and trevor starting.
