I know it was talked about a while back but I can't seem to find it.

A friend of mine got vista and wants to go back to older windows...what's the best way to do that?

Make sure that the computer is compatible with XP (drivers). Copy your data over to another disk. Do a clean install of XP.

what i did to my lpatop was I bought a new harddisk and loaded it with XP. I still have the vista premium just in case they come up with a service pack next year.

    what's wrong with your vista?

Im not a fan of dual boot because it can be a pain the @ss. You can just do like TeamUSA says and buy a new hard drive for the computer. I would just whipe it. Mark my words, Vista is the Windows ME of this decade.

its not me, a friend was just having some issues with hers...just random little things but its annoying her. problems with word, viewing pictures, playing music, etc. I dont know all the details

getting a new harddrive and swopping it out does seem the easiest.

I don't think he was suggesting getting a new drive. Just back up the old drive and reformat the existing drive.

    simple description:

find someone uglier than you who doesn't have good hygene and is computer savvy. that way your friend gets her computer fixed up and you still have a chance at getting in her pants.

    Cheers!

just backup the files to whichever of the following you have access to:

    firewire or usb external drive
    dvd
    cd's
    another computer via network

    reformat the drive
    install XP

    mix drinks and bring condoms

im planning to revert back to XP as well over thanksgiving break. whooo...vista sucks. really makes me consider going apple next time despite the overexpensive price.

ive been having quite a few problems with sound and microphones (not hardware related) and of course compatibility issues.

Same here. I've given Vista a try, and I'm tired of it. It's not bad, but it's not that much better then XP. It's so bloated, and all the bells and whistles are becoming more of an annoyance rather then a nice presentation.
