    My saga:

So I'm sitting at work eating my Veggie Pockets from Murphy's Deli at 2:00pm. Suddenly, I get a call from the nice Indian lady who owns the place I frequent and she tells me I left my credit card at the store.

Despite the fact that its raining like the opening sequence of "The Day After Tomorrow," I decide to make the quick 6 minute trip to get my card.

    BAD IDEA.

I get to Murphy's Deli, get my card, and quickly drive back to the office.

So I'm driving down South Post Oak Lane, and suddenly a small car is sitting in the left lane in front of me, without a blinker. I start to curse the guy out because I'm upset that he's taking a left turn without a blinker and holding up traffic.

Stupid me and my road rage.

I step on the gas and head into oncoming traffic around him, only to find myself hit by a WALL OF WATER.

The street had flooded four feet high and I was in the middle of it. Water starts to flood through the bottom of the car, through the doors, and the windows. The wall of water goes over my hood and suddenly I'm floating down the river known as South Post Oak Lane! Steam is coming out of my engine like a volcano is on the verge of erupting...

Luckily, a good samiratan in a F-150 comes to my aid and pushes me into the parking lot of the Post Oak Grill. I open my door in the parking lot and gallons of water come pouring out like a bad cartoon. Twigs, dirt, grass, and trash are all inside.

I'm soaking wet and smell of sewer water.

I was stuck there for an hour, until the water started to subside and a buddy from work came and rescued me.

My car is still at the parking lot, in all likelihood totaled and destroyed.

R.I.P. my dream car... the black convertible mustang.

I'll try to start it again after work, but I fear its over for my preciuos beauty.

Oh, and I'm back in my office, soaking wet, smelling of the sewer, and sitting in 65 degrees of cold air.

    I think I'm dying b/c I can't stop shivering.

    drapg,

I thought it was obvious that God hated you when he made you a Titans' fan. ;)

Just kidding buddy...sorry to hear about today. I'll buy you a beer if I see you on Saturday. We'll pour a little out for respect to your dream car. :(

    Sorry to hear that.

    What a shame. :(

I had a 78 Delta 88 about 20 years ago. I got stuck in water up to the window of the door. The engine was definately under. I kept on pressing the gas pedal and was able to cross the water. The car dried out and worked fine afterwords.

    Perhaps there is hope.

That's a pretty embarassing story, dude. So you cursed a guy for holding up traffic, only to drive your Mustang into a wall of water.

Wow. I work on S. Post Oak Ln. I'll have to see if I see a black convertible Mustang in the grille's parking lot when I leave here.

It'll be there till 6pm. Then, I try to drive it or I tow it.

    Hopefully the former.

    Yes.

I did admit to the stupidity of my road rage.

I'm ready to break down and cry now.

it will probably be a total then

Insurance companies automatically total when the water gets up around/into the dash area

Also, I recommend not trying to drive it. There is a good chance your engine ingested water, which could cause you to bend or break a rod.

From everything I have read, it may be salvageable if you don't try to start it, but if you do try to start it, it will be toast.

A lot of cars stalled out like me.

The only guy who made it across was a dude in a Hummer, with a ****-eating grin on his face.

That does it. Screw the environment. I'm buying a Hummer.

Don't worry. Good news is that you're due for a new car from the folks at your insurance company, given the flood damage. I recommend you look into a full sized Silverado with a 8" lift, so that next time you can simply forage ahead through 4 feet of water.

Agree. Don't try to start it. Have it towed to a garage and checked out. Good luck! You've had enough bad luck for one day. :(

    drapg-

I feel for you dude. Exact same thing happened to me a few years ago. Well the flooding of the car part at least.

My car was eventually towed, I had to go gather up my remains and scrap the car. I also came away with a spider bite on my penis. I came home that night and the right side of my penis was swollen.

Not always, but most of the time, yes.

Good rule of thumb to go by though. If your car gets in high water and stalls out. Call a wrecker. Don't try starting it.

It's nice that a good samaritan comes out in the pouring rain to give you a hand, and nobody took your credit card to run up a bill.

    Sorry about your dream car.
