Pretty much widely accepted as our sesaon goal was to make the playoffs. Now we are there playing the Lakers in the first round.

From here, what would it take for you to call it a succesfull playoff run? The options run from four and out, to splashing championship champagne.

But what would satisfy you, considering where we are right now?

We have to at least go 6 to make it a good experience, and 7 would make it a success. If we get swept in 4 I would be shocked not to see major off season changes.

I would bet against the sweep for the simple reason that we do not start the series at home. We often play lackadasically when our backs are to the wall. But we almost always play lackadaisically when our backs are not to the wall.

If we go down 0-2 in L.A., we will win at least one game at home, possibly two. The Lakers will help us by slacking off, just as we would if we were up 2-0.

If we started the series at home, we could easily cough up the first two games anyway, not feeling desperate yet -- then find ourselves in a hostile arena with no chance to recover.

I figure we really have no hope of winning the first round. My heart says yes, but the realist in me says no way. That being said, success is making a good appearance and learning from the experience. With that in mind, I like game one and if we have three others like that and out, I would be satisfied. On the other hand, it that was our best effort, I'll be quite disapointed.

Winning the next game is the only goal that is left. They succeded in getting to the play of which is step one in getting the title. Now the only goal the Rockets and rocket fans should have is winning the next game. and then after that winning the next game and so on and so forth.

Successful playoff run? We'd have to at least make it out of the first round. But do I expect or demand that? No. If we continue to play the rest of the series the way we played the last three quarters of Game 1, I'll be satisfied.

We hit our target this year - to make the playoffs.

I don't expect to beat LA, but the playoffs will allow us to learn a whole lot about this mix of players. The playoffs are really a caricature of the season and tend to expose weaknesses and magnify strengths. That's what we saw in the first round.

JVG and management will use this as a real proving ground with respect to personnel changes and reworking the team. I for one feel that the talent is pretty good but the mix is wrong. Yao is not ready (physically or emotionally) to lead, and Francis doesn't know how.

I look for significant changes in the off season.

If we play like a team and fight hard every night I'll be satisfied.

The ONLY team the Rockets had a chance of beating in the first round was the Lakers.

Even with all of our warts we match up so well with them.

    I'll second that!
First game was the usual Rockets Game with all the same old problems. 'No' player was vindicated by their play in Game One.
