    Go Orangemen!

They played as well as you can against a tough defensive team like UT.

    I hate KU.

Keep it going Syracuse. What a performance by the orangemen. Hope they can win it all. Anthony is a franchise type player, i cant imagine Lebron doing what anthony did tonight. Go 'Cuse!!!

I had a bad feeling about this game way back in the middle of the first half. Ford looked tentative out there at times against the Syracuse zone. I was REALLY impressed with Carmelo Anthony...now I see why he's projected to go as high as 3rd in many mock drafts. Great game, and an excellent season by the 'Horns.

Carmelo, Carmelo, Carmelo. It was all Carmelo.

As for TJ Ford, he is a good player, but he is only 5'11". There are many point guards in the NBA who will overpower him.

It will be interesting to see how these two play in the NBA next season.

Syracuse might be the team with the best player(s), but Kansas is the best team.

Syracuse is gonna win. I'll take 'em by 3. They are a good, and very underrated team.

KU better be able to run Cuse out of the building, or they will have a LOT of trouble against the 2-3 zone. They lack the necessary shooters and slashers, other than Hinrich, to do much against the zone.

I can see KU either scoring 90 pts, or scoring only 55.

well as long as syracuse isn't hitting every ridiculous shot they throw up like they did tonight then i see kansas winning. i can't remember a good team playing above themselves as much as syracuse did tonight. melo hitting everything. warrick hitting fadeaway jumpers. their ft's, my god their ft's. their like a 69% ft shooting team, where was that tonight (and where was our free throw shooting?). mcnamara playing like crap for most of the tourney then drilling 3's and tough runners and 17 foot fadeaways. my god, everyone was on fire for them. only buckman (and mouton in the 1st half) really played above themselves for us and it still just came down to us making more ft's.

and carmelo will be the next mj if the refs treat him like that in the nba. and man i wished sydmill would have just fouled the everloving **** out of that cuse guy who dunked with 12 seconds left. come down really hard on his arms or just shove the crap out of him, either way. what's the worst that happens, you're suspended for a few games at the beginning of next season? i know that may not be sportsmanlike but neither is dunking up 9 with 12 left. hell even we dribbled out the clock and we were trailing. damn you jt for those ft's. damn you deginald for that layup. at least it was a great season we beat ou twice, guess that makes up for it all.

now please kansas beat the **** out of syracuse in the finals. we had no real trouble with the zone and kansas is even better than us at beating teams up the court (actually better than everyone) .and i'm gonna try hard not to root for some sort of injury to anthony b/c i know i shouldn't. little b**** ass smirks after all the calls he was getting. i liked him a few days ago when he beat ou, no more.

    God, you're very sour tonight.:) :) :) :)

Yeah that dunking thing at the end wasn't like on purpose. IMO, I think they were just making sure they were making sure they won the game. I mean I tohught they were only up by 5, so making sure you score is important.

Yes, wishing for a horrible injury is unsportsmanlike and awful.

Melo always smiles after everything. Foul, made shot, whatever. It looks like h's having fun out there. That ain't smirking.

But, as you are a Texas fan, vent as much as you like. But wouldn't you want the best team to win? Obviously any team to defeat both Texas AND Oklahoma, nevermind back-to-back has to be spectacular. I would think you would hate Kansas more. you don't really want a champion in your Conference, do ya?

You didn't have much trouble against the 2-3 zone? Say what?

in relation to putting points on the board, not really. obviously it limited our effectiveness at times, stagnated the offense occasionally, and was frustrating at the beginning, and kept tj out of the inside a lot but he still racked up 13 assists, we still hit 3's, and we still scored 84 pts on 42.9% shooting which may have been our best fg% of the tournament (forget our unc-asheville %), and only had 12 to's which was one above our tourney average. so in that respect, i wouldn't exactly say the 2-3 zone destroyed us or gave us that much trouble. and if we shoot free throws reasonably well we may have put up 90. how did the zone give us that much trouble? we certainly didn't look as bad as others have against it. what killed us was them hitting ft's and them shooting a ridiculous percentage on tough shots. i can't count the number of times all of us watching were thinking we had defended them well only to be frustrated by a very tough make. the shot that put them up 82-75 was typical of the whole night. mouton right on him, close to fouling him, guy leaning to the side, only shooting with one hand and freakin hits it. there zone didn't make us lose.

i'm a little conflicted on this issue. i don't really want a champ in the conf just because we have to face them and be reminded of it more but i really don't want the conf that has it to be the big east. plus i guess i have a little big xii pride so kansas is the more appealing option. plus there's nothing i really hate about kansas, as i generally enjoy watching their style when they're not playing UT (hell even a little when they are playing us). so i am definitely rooting for kansas, which just about guarantees that syracuse will win.

I think Kansas will win, but you never know Syracuse has alot of talent. Why is everyone saying TJ and Carmelo are going in to the draft? Carmelo maybe, but TJ is staying.

    Whooooooooooo

Syracuse will beat KU, BTW. Anyone else think that Warrick will be a lotto pick in a few years? That guy's an athletic freak, and has a pretty nice shot too....

I was so pissed at seeing KU destroying Marquette like they did last night.

I think Roy Williams is a classy guy, but I have never liked his teams. Syracuse isn't much better, IMO.

But I have already won my pool for this year, so it is no big deal that I will miss seeing the championship game tomorrow night.

No way in hell. He's only 6 ft 8 or 6 ft 7. He's a great athlete, but he's no different than Jerome Williams of Toronto, or Donnell Harvey of the Nuggets. He'll be a late 1st or early 2nd rounder whenever he goes to the NBA. He hasn't show any ball skills whatsoever.

The only freaks like that who get drafted in the lotto are PF/C types like Chris Wilcox or Antonio McDyess.

Putting points on the board, is somewhat overrated. Offensive efficiency (points per amount of possesions) is much more important than just points itself. The pace of the game was pretty quick, therefore the point totals will be high, by default.

Cuse's zone made UT really uncomfortable for a long part of the game. There was no easy pass inside for TJ. That is what Cuse wanted, and what they got. Anytime a defense can follow the game plan, I would call that success.

If Cuse had a bigger PG, than McNamara, their 2-3 zone would be twice as effective. Having a midget guarding the perimeter against taller spot-up shooters isn't too effective. Now, if they had a 6 ft 4 or so PG, then their 2-3 zone would be even better.

    He's 6-9.

And for what it's worth, nbadraft.net has him as the #2 pick next year.
