I can't wait till 3:30 so I can watch the game on CSTV. UH needs to play smarter and shoot better if they want to win this game. UH can't shoot but there defense is great and that keeps them in the game. Lanny, Ramon, and Oliver need to have big games because on Saturday, they were horrible. Penders has team on the rise. They get 5 new players next year including transfers from Texas, Depaul, and Providence. They will also have a 6-9 big man from Bellville, Texas who averges 20 ppg, 15 rpg, and 7 bpg. Even though they will lose Latham and Dyer, they should be a lot better next year.
Good job, Coogs. Now go take care of Stanford/MSU and we'll do our part by kicking Michigan's butt tonight...
Judging by the radio broadcasters, we got robbed. The officials decided the game in the final seconds by calling an and 1 foul on a tip in. UH went cold in the second half and put themselves in a rough situation.
Was it a foul? I've never understood the whole "swallow your whistle" mentality in the last few seconds of a basketball game. If it was a foul with 15:00 remaining, it's a foul with 2.9 seconds.
trust me...if Abrams got this foul called on him with 2 seconds left the Orangebloods would be wailing and gnashing teeth all off season.
I didn't say anything negative about the UT or thier program...cept as a UH fan it looked to me like we got hosed. Maybe if I was neutral it wouldn't have looked so bad. Heres to hoping ya'll get a similar call against ya'll in the next round...then we'll see.
Haven't seen the replay so I really don't know. Getting doubled up on the boards is usually not conducive to winning games, however. Neither is jacking up 40+ 3's when you're shooting 'em below 30%. Fouling a jumpshooter when you're down 2 in the final seconds is tremendously stupid. Penders-ball is Penders-ball, you gotta take the good with the bad. Plenty o' blame to go around. The 20-10 disparity in fouls is definitely questionable. I just found it funny that UT got brought up at all. Seems to be par for the course when discussing other Texas schools, though.
I heard the call on the radio last night, so I'd like to see some video of the play, too. Sounded like the refs blew an over-and-back call on Missouri St. on their previous possession. MSU immediately turned it over again, so it didn't hurt the Coogs, just brings up more questions. And FWIW, I'm an Orangeblood in grad school at UofH, and I was really pulling for the Coogs.
