No matter what happens, I love this trade. But to make it truly special, I think the Bulls are the key. Obviously, the Knicks traded to set up free agency. I think its safe to say the Bulls did the same cuz they gave Tyrus Thomas and John Salmons away.

Everyone keeps saying that its likely Lebron, Wade and Bosh are not going anywhere cuz of the money they lose by not signing with their current teams. If that happens this trade has potential to be one of the most lopsided deals in history.

From what I understand, both the Bulls and Knicks can pretty much offer two max deals this summer, especially if the Bulls dump Heinrich. Both teams play in huge markets so that negates some of the NY luster. Chicago is Wade's hometown plus he gets to play with a superstar PG, a solid young PF in Gibson, and possibly another max player. To me that makes Chicago a much better destination then NY.

Honeslty, I think even the Nets and Clippers have better potential teams to join and are both in big markets. Hopefully they steal a max player or two and leave NY empty handed. If NY cant land two superstar players this summer, they will be one of the worst teams in the league for the next few years. That could mean some very high picks coming our way, which make this deal unbelievable.

I do have a question though. If the Knicks do somehow land the top pick in 2011 does that just wipe out the switching picks clause or do we get it another year. Same question about if they have a top 5 pick in 2012. Do we get their 2013 pick no matter what number?

IIRC the bulls only cleared enough space to go after 1 max contract player.

tmac was the key to this trade. he screwed the team over and provided no playing value in the trade, so we had to include carl. that dick

Everyone should hope all the premiere free agents go the money route and either re-sign with their own teams, or go with a sign-and-trade (preferably to us). The Knicks don't have the pieces for ANY S&T and can only go through free agency, which would cause players to take a $30 million pay cut.

If the Knicks suck the next two years, we have officially hit the JACKPOT.

They are definitely gonna go after Wade in the Summer. It only makes sense, Wade is from Chicago and the Bulls just traded their best SG.

    huh??

The Rockets own the Knicks pick in 2012.

So if the Knicks get the top pick in 2011, then we get the option to swap picks with ourselves in 2012??

I'd say the right to swap is negated entirely if the Knicks get the no1 pick. Otherwise it's the most r****ded protection ever from the Knicks point of view...

Looking at the trade now, I wonder if Walsh feels sick to his stomach? He got screwed big time, looks like they'll be paying max money to Stoudemire or Boozer I guess...

im curious about this question also. and did not want to start a new thread on it. i would assume from what i remember in the past if it does transfer to next year meaning if it falls under the protection stated it would be lost unless otherwise stated in the trade information. because usually it will say something like 2007 draft pick lottery protected, 2008 top 5 protected, 2009 no protection. and i have not heard anything like this in this trade, but i may be wrong.
