GMs select Spurs to win another title James gets nod as MVP choice, franchise builder Chronicle News Service NEW YORK - The San Antonio Spurs will win another title and LeBron James will capture his first MVP award, according to a preseason poll of NBA general managers. All but two of the league's 30 general managers responded to the fifth annual NBA.com survey. They also picked Portland's Brandon Roy as the rookie of the year, Pat Riley of Miami as the best coach and Kobe Bryant as the player they want taking a shot with the game on the line. James was also the choice of 71 percent of the GMs as the player they would want to sign if they were starting a franchise.
Way too biased by the east coast people. Everyone knows the Rockets will win the Championship, Yao will be MVP, VSpan will be Rookie of the Year, Van Gundy will be Coach of the Year, TMac will be Comeback Player of the Year, Bonzi will be 6th Man, Snyder will be Defensive Player of the Year, and Novack will be the one everyone wants to take the last shot with the game on the line. My picks seem much more realistic than this survey of people who seem to only vote based on reputation rather than results.
I am with you brother but I am not at all surprised with the GM's picking the Spurs. I can't wait one more week till we start the journey for our third title!
I am a big fan of the spurs but something tells me the spurs are getting way too old. They have a bunch of players in their 30s..... Duncan, Barry, and Horry to name a few and age is a funny thing. I think of Minnesota when they had cassel and sprewell and the Rockets last year and how one great season can become a disaster if you dont plug in some youth. So while they may have a great coach, great team chemistry, and are well put together they could seriously breakdown this year.
who do the spurs have to back Duncan ? Nazr left for the pistons, and the scrubs they acquired and have aren't going to carry that load.
I rarely admit it here, but I'm a Spurs fan also. Comparing them to the T-Wolves is a stretch but they are getting up there in age. Manu has to bounce back and stay healthy and TD must be great. At least TP is hitting the prime of his career. With those three and Pop the Spurs will be fine, but something tells me they could struggle come playoff time. Injuries are the only thing that could cause a serious breakdown. They could sleepwalk thru the regular season and win 55 games.

They don't know we're going to prove their candy arses wrong...The spurs suck...mavs suck even more...
Uhh.... we all know Battier will be Defensive Player of the Year... Lets be more realistic here. hahahaha. Also, I picked up Brandon Roy for my fantasy team, so I am glad to hear R.O.Y. talks about him!
Well that should tell you something about how disappointed the Rockets were when Roy got picked ahead of Gay.
