anyone have this problem when logging into gmail where the http:// and lock icon are x'ed out in red, which signifies something is amiss? i've never had it happen until today, cant seem to find any answers.
I would highly recommend turning on HTTPS SSL on your gmail settings. It means either the certifcate issued for your gmail is wrong or expired, or you've been sent to a hacker site. Usually gmail https is green, which it might be telling you to turn on https for always on gmail, which you should be doing anyways. Either way, turning on SSL will get rid of this problem. That means that the certificate for Secure Sockets Layer (https, or SSL) for the server you reached has one of the following problems: Expired or is not effective as of the date you requested it (check your PC's date) Does not match the server name that you're reaching (think www.gmail.com vs. mail.gmail.com) Isn't recognized as "legit" or from a legit company where GMail purchased it It could mean that the data sent from the server wasn't complete. This is IE's or FireFox's way of telling you " be careful about what you do on this site, it could be fraudulent. " Reload the page. If it continues to happen, it's GMAIL's problem only if they're the only HTTPS site with whom you're having this problem.
i'm not sure how to check if its going on, on any other sites, but i did go to my google voice page and it gave me the same red slash as well. does that sound like it might be on googles end?
I noticed the same thing on one of my Gmail accounts in Chrome this morning. Never seen that before. I reloaded multiple times, but couldn't get it to correct.
i got it to correct by exiting out of the tab and then opening gmail again, not by just refreshing the page
