Even though a majority of the people here on this board do not seem to get it, the American people apparently do. Global warming ranks last on a list of 28 priorities of Americans, as reported in a Pew Research Center Study.

The truth is out there concerning Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW), but we do not know it yet. Unfortunately, there are no true experts when it comes to climate science. As a result, the American people have correctly decided not to blindly trust the highly partisan AGW alarmists who are on the front lines of promoting the AGW agenda, even if this agenda is presented under the banner of "settled science".

The steady stream of scandals and retractions by the UN and the AGW scientific community on this topic have apparently taken their toll. The American people are just not buying it anymore.

Among 21 social and economic issues, global warming ranks last as a top priority to Americans, who view it as increasingly less urgent, according to an annual survey released Monday by the Pew Research Center for People & the Press.

Just 28% of the 1,504 adults surveyed consider "dealing with global warming" a top priority, down from 38% three years ago. "Such a low ranking," Pew reports, "is driven in part by indifference among Republicans: just 11% consider global warming a top priority, compared with 43% of Democrats and 25% of independents."

"Protecting the environment" fared somewhat better, ranking 16th among issues. Some 44% say it should be a top priority for President Obama and Congress, down from 57% in 2007.

That's nice, but it still speaks nothing to the validity or invalidity of the subject.

I am one to say that global warming is a complete BS scheme -- set-up for power, money, etc by taxing the hell out of wealthier countries in the world . . . holding the money in a central location (more wealth produced). Then doing nothing in return which would do 'diddily' to change the environment. Thankfully, the brainwashing which has gone on over the past 20 years or so is starting to become known for what it is.

That said, I did find it interesting that the environment and Global Warming were separate selections in the poll. Thus, the combined amount results in over 60 (ie top 5) not last. Seems like there is still more convincing to be done -- Just thought I would throw that in there.

Wow, good catch. Didn't even notice that.

So, lump those two together for 72... good enough for 4th place on that list.

Looks a lot different from that angle.

I want to sympathize, but I don't get it. History shows wealthy countries, and the men who run the industries in those countries, typically becoming more wealthy by using, in part, resources and labor in the less wealthy countries.

So now those men are setting up a scheme by which, via "falsified science" (sic), they will ... lose their own fortunes?

Or is it a scheme set up by the less wealthy nations, via their vast resources and ingenuity, to trick and/or buy scientists in the wealthy nations and thereby redistribute money?

Neither of those makes sense to me.

A remainder (one I've actually heard promoted) is that scientists are liberal and will make up fake data to redistribute wealth. I can only speak for physicists, but there are as many conservative and libertarian scientists as their are liberal ones.

Of course it's not a high priority with people. It's about the future and people tend to only care about the present. If everything should be decided by opinion polls, then there really would be no need for the government. The whole reason why we're a Republic is because theoretically speaking, those who we vote into office are better governing than ourselves. Hence we trust their judgment more than our own's.

Oh, saw this on another thread. I believe it deserves another posting.

Ha. I posted that in Mojo's other thread (this week) about global warming. I was coming in here to do the same thing.

The love of strawn men, like so many inflatable sex dolls, is what first made it obvious that Mojo is Jorge.

And of course, global warming will always rank last in a survey, even after the dramatic effects start. Individuals just typically cannot see a picture that big and with such a long time span.

The threat of an asteroid hit would rank last also, until it was about 10,000 miles from impact.

I don't know if you can simply add those 2 together. My impression is they gave respondents a list of issues and asked them to select a number of items they considered 'top priority.' It is likely that many of the people who selected environment also selected global warming. By adding the two, you give those respondents a double-intensity.

Probably true, but we're not given the details of it.

And as already pointed out, even if it was 100%, it still has no bearing on the validity factor... and as B-Bob said, anytime you poll something of immediate consequence vs. something of later consequence, immediate consequence will win.

Thank you Individual Posting as Clutchfans.net user MojoMan!

This is a great poll which reinforces why global warming is a collective action problem that the free market will not solve by itself - I can't think of a better example. Actually wait I can, here it is:

Poll of Prisoners in Prisoners Dilemma

    1. Both talk, both go to jail for five years 100%
    2. Don't talk, both go to jail for six months 0%

I have prepared a pie chart for the % of posters who knew that (shown in blue).
