If the Rockets were to trade a PF for him, wouldn't it benefit the team as well as help depth by moving him or JJ to the bench? Oh, and he is on the last year of his contract.

76ers want to trade ex-No. 1 pick Robinson

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia 76ers placed 11-year veteran Glenn Robinson on the injured list Monday with left ankle tendinitis and will try to trade the former No. 1 pick.

Sixers general manager Billy King indicated that he and new coach Jim O'Brien had reached the conclusion that trading the 31-year-old forward would be the best thing for all parties.

"With the direction we want to go and the way Jim wants to play, it may not benefit Glenn," King said. "I don't think Glenn's lost any of his skill level. It's just the way we're going as an organization."

O'Brien said Robinson, who average 16.6 points per game last season - down from his career average of 20.8 - needs a change of scenery for the third time in his career.

"He needs to start for a team and put up numbers," O'Brien said. "I think he could fit. He's just not fitting in our starting lineup."

Robinson, who had been replaced in the starting lineup by first-round pick Andre Igoudala, took the news in stride.

"They want to go with the younger guys and play Andre at small forward and that's fine," Robinson said. "I'd like to keep doing what I've been doing and be somewhere where I can get minutes, since this is my last (contract) year.

"Like Billy said, I don't fit here," he said. "They're going to try to put me in a place where I do fit. That's all I can ask for. It may happen. It may not happen. But right now, I'm in Philly, and my job is helping this team win as long as I'm here."

The team also placed veteran guard Kevin Ollie (left hip pointer) and guard John Salmons (groin strain)on the injured list to get down to the 12-man roster limit. The Sixers open the 2004 season Wednesday night in Boston, where O'Brien coached two seasons before resigning in January.

this guy is a mouth. messed things up in millwaukee. never played defense.

he does have a nice game from 12-20 feet. but too much baggage. being in the last season of his contract is a plus.

I say pass. Whatever virtues he once had have vanished with age and increasing ill-temper.

Not much he can do here.

    1. Can't play defense at all.
    2. Needs the ball to be effective.
    3. There is no room for him.

Didnt Tmac brag about his defense on Big Dog when questioned about his defense during the trade? That would be funny if they became teammates. :D

Sounds like a Mavs player. They don't need him, so I'm sure they'll go after him because he can jack the ball and doesn't really play much d. You can never have too many 20 ppg players on your bench.

Does anyone has a feeling that Carmelo Anthony would eventually turn into someone like Robinson if he doesn't change his attitude soon?

Posted this in another thread but it fits here to. First sign Bo Outlaw then do this trade.

Houston trades: SF Clarence Weatherspoon (5.0 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 0.6 apg in 16.7 minutes)
PF Juwan Howard (17.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 2.0 apg in 35.5 minutes)
Houston receives: SF Glenn Robinson (16.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 1.4 apg in 31.9 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -5.4 ppg, -6.4 rpg, and -1.2 apg.

Philadelphia trades: SF Glenn Robinson (16.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 1.4 apg in 31.9 minutes)
Philadelphia receives: SF Clarence Weatherspoon (5.0 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 0.6 apg in 52 games)
PF Juwan Howard (17.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 2.0 apg in 81 games)
Change in team outlook: +5.4 ppg, +6.4 rpg, and +1.2 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Next year when glenn comes of the books use the money to get a PG. I dont know why everyone is worried about his defense. We have a defensive minded coach with a proven defensive scheme. Besides our D is not our problem its our offense that worries me.

Why would you trade for someone that is starting the season on the Injured list..he does nothing for this team...we do not need a scorer with nothing else to offer....other than his injuries.

I'd trade for him, but I wouldn't give up Howard or Taylor to get him. Maybe Weatherspoon and Gaines. He'd be a good scorer off the bench, but why would he want to be traded to another team where he's just going to come off the bench??

Big Dog is a big dud. Would not play defense in Milwaukee. Convicted of domestic assult and battery while in Atlanta. Has been a none factor in Philly. I don't think he would want to play defense and give up shots or conform to Anthony Falsone's stregth training and body fat program either.

Unless there is financial gain by doing this, big dog serves us nothing. And he has history of back injury.

Locker room cancer. On court blackhole. Defensive revolving door. Stay away.

The only thing that might hold the Sixers back, besides injuries that could hold every team back, is Glen Robinson the big DOG! He would be a bad influence on Tracy, Juwon, and Mo, keep him AWAY!
