what about we give him the ball.... and seriously use him into our offence. honestly if we are gonna be runnin these types of plays next year for webber y'all know he's gonna bolt with complaints how he's not involved into the offence. we're not gonna get all dat high this year. so i think we should just start utilizin the front court more anyways so the guards are accustomed to those plays and when webber fits in next year he'll fit like a custom fit glove. heck there were posts earlier i thought that talked about this about using hakeem til he drops and honestly i'm for it...... like y'all said the city does owe him too..... he's got his desire for a ring now and to play again... let's give it to him and see what this warrior can do.... ------------------ "Wahooo"-homer I'm not only a fan but I'm also the bartender at clutchcity chat For the last time I'm not Tybrave!!!!!
That's a great idea. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
p.s. if he thinks he can run through Riley practices and sprints then let's test him out. we don't got all that much to loose if we loose him cause of a heart failure or something on the floor or a career ending injury then we get him to retire as a rocket. if he holds up to wht he thinks he can do then heck that couldn't be bad could it... and if he gets injured again for a long time then we're back to iso's and then hakeem can't whine his way out again. p,S, don't label this hakeem ordeal close to a pippen or francis ordeal. ------------------ "Wahooo"-homer I'm not only a fan but I'm also the bartender at clutchcity chat For the last time I'm not Tybrave!!!!!
when webber fits in next year he'll fit like a custom fit glove Making a rather large assumption here. I would say that there is a much better chance of us not getting Webber than there is of getting him. To completely change our offensive strategy in the middle of a season when we are still in the playoff hunt simply in the offchance that we can sign only the most sought after free agent at the end of the season seems a bit extreme to me. Besides, if we do get Webber, I doubt that Steve or anyone else will have that much difficulty getting the ball to him. Right now, Webber is hands down more effective than Dream on defense and offense. ------------------ "Of course, everything looks bad if you remember it!" Homer Simpson
Or we could just trade Francis and Mobley for Cassell and Horry. Same difference. ------------------ "Any answer that can't be questioned is no answer at all. It's gibberish. I totally agree with you tycoon. I just cannot believe that we think that we can be better without Olajuwon. What Shaq did the other day should tell you that you will not go far without the Dream. We have to bring back the front court. Call Dream bluff and work him. I think the coach would be well advised to get Dream, and Rodgers in the line now. ------------------
I have really thought about whether we should trade Dream or not...because I think waiving him is out of the question. Peter Vescey even said we would be crazy to waive him and give Miami a center when we need a center ourselves. I think the only player on Miami I would trade him for is Mason, plus a couple of cap fillers. After the way Mason played today, I am convinced he would fit in with this team for the rest of this season, anyway. What he lacks in height he makes up in toughness and hustle. I once thought he was a 'head case', but he is playing good basketball. I think he could help us more than Dream could right now, so if Miami is offering him I say take it...otherwise, keep Hakeem. ------------------ "Steve is good. They DID try to incorporate Olajuwon into the offense. He DID NOT want to change. Now, tell me. If your best player requires one type of offense and your aging, fading star another, what do you do? Giving Olajuwon the ball requires that the Rockets return to a system that doesn't work any longer not just because of Dream but because the players on the team don't fit that system. When we had Maloney and other three-point threats on the outside and Olajuwon beat his man so bad most nights that teams had to double and triple team him, that system worked find. It doens't anymore. Didn't we just get through complaining about the low post offense??? ------------------ Me fail English? That's unpossible.
The Rockets should mix up the two types of offenses. In order to win, you need a low post game and a running game. Of course the Rockets should not go completely back to the old offense, but they should use it sometimes. They have to have a diverse offense in order to win. Benching Hakeem behind Bullard in the fourth quarter is not what I would call "trying to involve Hakeem in the offense". ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
I agree we need a diverse offense to win. However, Hakeem only plays one of those two styles, and hampers the development of the other. I'm not saying we don't need a low post presence. I'm saying that Hakeem no longer fits the type of low post presence we need. ------------------ Behad Sergeant at Arms of the Clutch BBS Asking the question: What is more dangerous, an AK-47 or a scooter?
Besides, webber doesn't always need to get the ball in the post, he's equally effective on the perimeter. ------------------
