I've noticed there were a few critics against mobley here, but I really like him. I know the season is only early, but I went to the NBA site and did a quick look at the league leaders in different categories. Heres how he is doing.

    PPG 36th (Francis is 17th)

    FG % 17th (Francis is 28th)

    3pt % 2nd

steals pg 27th (Francis is 12th)

another interseting fact is that last season he trailed only Kobe Bryant and Ray Allen in scoring among Western Conference shooting guards, ranking 38th in the NBA in points per game

So please, give the man a break!

I would love to have a "Welcome to Last Week" picture lying around somewhere right now.

bro I don't see anybody dissing Mobley around here, right now.

He is getting his props from even his harshest critics.

there may be one or two who are set in their ways when it comes to their feelings about Mobley but most are petting him and saying 'good kitty kitty kitty kitty'

He isn't dissed as much as it was before season started. Some ppl are prasing him for his decisiveness even. Though he's always going to have criticisms because he isn't passing to Yao as much as he should.

    he shouldn't be... yet.

there's nothing wrong with mobe's game. he's a stud. he's our version of sacto's bobby jackson... that's why his arse should be coming off of the bench when piat and ag come back. then he can be the 1st/2nd choice on offense (as he thinks he should be), take as many shots as he like, without jeopardizing the flow of the offense in the starting minutes with his horrid shot selection... although they've been going in as of late. he won't stay hot forever.

c'mon vg. 6th man of the year (screw jalen and his horribulls).

Yah.....it's quiet right now. They're all sitting in the bushes, with big puddles of drool pooling up at their feet.......waiting......just waiting for that day when Mobley has a poor game.

If he keeps lighting it up from beyond the arc like he has been so far, I don't want him to pass...

exactly, I mean don't get me wrong, passing is good, but its not exactly what you would say is the role of a shooting guard, its not his job to pass the ball all the time

yeah... but how long is it going to last? i don't think that Cat Mobley is a 60% three point shooter. i'm sure if you look through last year you will find a stretch of five games where he's played at least this well. i mean the season is 82 games! stochastic abnormalities like this are bond to happen..

If he gets bashed when he deserves it (and even when he doesn't), he should get credit when he deserves it too. His shot selection has been great this year. These haven't been wild, lucky shots. He's 17th in FGA, due to smart shot selection and good shooting, not luck. When one of our players works to turn a liability in his game into an asset, he should get props. Especially on his team's fan site. I've been critical of Mobley in the past, but I am loving his game this year and I think the people who want to bench him in favor of Pike or trade him for lesser role players are totally nuts.

As long as they keep winning, I'm fine with Cat. His shots are falling, and his defense is great. I can't complain.

Mobley will get bashed when he heaves up a shot with a hand in his face and 14 secs remaining on the shot clock. I'm waiting in the bush with big puddles of drool pooling up at my feet, looking at the pics of powerdancers, FOR now.

i really thought mobes was a cancer on this team the past few seasons. he was just too undisciplined. but van gundy seems to be making a difference (no ****). although when pike gets back, i'd eventually like to see JVG experiment w/ mobes coming off the bench.

but as of right now we're winning, so whatever gets the job done is fine by me.

Cat was playing injured last year.

He had the surgeries, and now he is playing much better ball like he used to.

Mobely's playing very well so far. I hope Van Gundy is getting through to him. Remember when he commented on Steve? He wanted Steve to take good shots. He noted "that guy" doesn't have a problem with shot selection. Unstated - other players DO have a problem with shot selection. Cuttino still takes some bad shots, takes some shots early in the clock, and does not pass well. I think Van Gundy is going to point these things out, repeatedly, on tape to him, and he'll get a chance to correct them.

Someone said he doesn't want the shooting guard to pass. He said the shooting guard's job is to shoot, period, as often as possible. I beg to differ, esp. on a team that has Steve Francis and Yao Ming. That team should have a shooting guard that can feed the post, that can set picks and play defense. A guard that can swing the ball and hit the open jumper. If you run a ball- massaging, score-first 2 out there with Ming and Francis, you're just using them as support players. It negates their talent and value, and breaks down the team game. You're going to need that team game when the playoffs arrive and everything slows to half-court sets. You wouldn't want Iverson out there gunning, and you don't want Cuttino to play like Iverson. He's got to play team ball.

You may remember, the first two games Cuttino had back were very poor. The last three have been better and better. Here's to JVG getting the most from Cat.

you don't get it... he has to pass first and then Yao'll kick it out back to him for an open shot. didn't you notice that most of those 3s are open shots from inside (inside-out from Yao or penetrate-dish out from Steve) when cat tried to take over the game and refuse to pass its usually ugly. JVG really made cat smarter, even a cat hater like me can see the change.
