i think drafting ming would be a mistake! no player over 7'3" has had a long injury free career. sampson, ilguskus, smits, merasuan, bol, bradly, etc. why would the trend change now? i say go with depth and concentrate on getting rid of fat contracts. (Cato-weak, Rice-Hurt, Taylor-fat) I would like to see the rockets fill roster needs and create cheap depth. the proplem with the rockets is they don't have any patients, they want it now instead of wanting to build it. make the trade with the clips,

Clips get: #1, Rice and maybe Thomas (they don't want young players.

rockets get: #8, #12, and Lamar Odom and maybe future #1.

    Draft:
    #8 Qyntel Woods SG/SF
    #12 Nikolas Tskitishvilli SF
#15 Nene Hilario/ Amare Stoudemire PF
    #38 Smush Parker/ Lenny Cook PG/SG

I would then try to get rid of Cato and Taylor (how? i haven't got there yet!) , and go after Jermaine O'Neal in 03'. I would also like to make a trade for Zach Randolph of portland. The Future....

    Steve Francis Moochie Norris
Cutino Mobley Qyentel Woods Lenny Cook
    Lamar Odom Nikolas Tskitishivilli
Eddie Griffin Zach Randolph Terrence Morris
Jermain O'Neal Jason Collier Amare Stoudemire

Yeah its my sports center highlight! I think this could be done, with the difficult part being getting rid of Cato and Taylor.:D ;)

I wasn't aware of any injury problems for Bradley. Bradley, Bol, Eaton, Nevitt. There's four that didn't have injury problems to match your four.

Eaton and co. were not dominant players or #1 picks. Eaton alos had back proplems that took him out. I don't know why Bol left, I thought it was injury. Bradley might as well be hurt!

    00-01 Dal 82
    01-02 Dal 53

Bradley has only missed 98 possible games (69 before last season). BTW, if Ming's injury free, why would you want him to be like these players?

    Bol: 2.6 ppg, 4.24 rpg, 3.3 bpg
    Bradley: 9.5 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 3.0 bpg
    Eaton: 6.0 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 3.5 bpg

The ceiling for dominant has been set at 7'2" (Kareem). The ceiling for solid player with a lot of injuries has been 7'4". I don't think Ming will defy the odds.

So you think there will never be a good player taller than 7-2 who will not have his career shortened by serious injuries?

as an added point, none were #1 picks. no i don't want him to be like them, i just think he will. we can get much more out of this #1 by trading.

Nevitt? also none of the players gave much other than one dimension, blocks or rebounds. i'm just saying for a #1 pick we should be looking for more.

Dirk Nowitski and Pau Gasol. Two players who don't make sense but are very good. So good that we already see comparisons made to them about other players in the draft. Or why not the ultimate player today...Shaquille O'neal. By all accounts, he should be more like Oliver Miller but isn't.

I have no problem with someone not liking Ming, but basing your opinion on generalizations does not strenghthen the argument, imo. If Ming is a bust in this league (or even not a superstar) it won't be because he was too tall, but because he was just not talented enough.

Being a GM in the league isn't as easy as saying I wish we hadn't apid Cato as much and I wish Taylor played more like Elton Brand, but since I can't snap my fingers and make that happen, I'll unload them easily to other teams and I'll entice and get whatever free agent I want.

    Is that sarcasm?

I'd like to have a young/healthy Eaton on the Rockets under the new rules which would allow the rockets to play more zone-like defenses. He'd be the best blocker and rebounder on the team. I'd like to see how he'd done against Shaq.

You didn't say anything about that. You said "no player over 7'3" has had a long injury free career". That is untrue. You said "why would the trend change now?". There isn't a trend. So what is your point?

With the first pick? He'll never be the intimidator that Eaton was though.

I'm sorry I'll state it everytime like this: "free of leg injuries, mainly knee and ankle injuries, widely associated with men 7'3"+"

You know what I mean by injury free, don't twist my words.

    true story,
After the Lakers won their second title, I was invited to the Magic Johnson championship party at Century City Plaza. It was an awesome event were I had a chance to meet Shawn Marion, Paul Peirce and Lisa Leslie(what a b****), but my favorite momment was meeting Lamar Odom. You see I didn't just meet Lamar, we hung out. After the party, we took of in his Mercedes(chouffer included) and we headed to my apartment. Dude, the guy was so down to earth. Once we got to my apartment in Santa Monica we sent his chouffer for smokes and some other goodies, the driver was awesome, he would do absolutely anything Lamar asked him to (class act). Im not going to go into details about what we did all night, but i will say we talked alot about the Rockets. I told him infront of a couple of people that I could not believe Lamar Odom was in my apartment hanging out. Being a basketball fan it was kind of hard for me to hide my emotions. After a while I became numb to the fact he was chilling, so we started to talk basketball. He told me that he and Cat were close friends, and he absolutely "loves" Steve Francis' game. I asked him if he would like to play for the Rockets, and he said "no question" he would love to team up with Cat and Steve. The reason why I am posting all of this is because getting Lamar Odom is no longer coffee talk, it is a reality, and I for one could not be happier

The only way I see it, Eddie Griffin would be traded. I know people don't like that idea, but that's all I can see, if Ming, Steve, and Cat are still on the team. KT + 15 won't get Odom.

    prolly smoked pot with Odom.

That said, I wouldn't mind getting Odom in Hou - but not for the 1st pick.
