Found this on Fanhous.. http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007/12/20/is-giricek-done-in-utah/ Say it ain't so! The Croatian shooting guard has landed himself in Le Doghouse De Jerry Sloan, over what it's not clear. But knowing Sloan, we might well have seen the last of Gordon Giricek in a Jazz uni. From the Deseret Morning News: Sent to the locker room by coach Jerry Sloan during the Jazz's loss at Charlotte on Wednesday night, reserve shooting guard Gordan Giricek later was ordered back home to Salt Lake City to serve what amounts to a suspension of undeclared length. "I didn't do anything wrong," Giricek said three different times after leaving the locker room, "and I don't have no comment for anything." This isn't the first time the two have clashed, which might be why this has such a feeling of finality. Giricek thinks that the two -- or at least Sloan and Gordon's agent -- can work it out. But with Ronnie Brewer growing up fast and C.J. Miles signed, it's not like Utah's desperate at the two-guard spot. Now might be the moment for these two warring legends to say goodbye forever.
Why Sloan no like Euros? I remember he defended McGrady pretty well last year in the playoffs. Not the most talented guy out there, but can make a shot and has a decent clue about how to play the game. He and Tracy used to hate each other as teammates in Orlando, I believe. (Probably involving Giri thinking he was the TMac of Croatia or something). Wonder if they still do. Perhaps the Rockets can use him? If nothing more, he can piss TMac off in practice to get Tracy fired up for games.
Isn't the guy from Poland rather than Croatia? I actually watched, in person, the guy play his first NBA preseason game. I'm surprised he's developed as much as he has. He sucked and had about 6 traveling violations in that game.
i think he could fit here but realistically he wont. the jazz wont trade him for anything a rival has. i might just call this smoke screen anyways...
I've been wanting this guy on the Rockets for a while. He has a great shot,he is not a bad defended and he has a bargain contract. But as stated above the Jazz probably won't send him to a division rival unless they were getting the better of the deal.
I didn't see it but read somewhere that they had to be separated during the game. Giricek's last day as a Jazz should have been when they lost to the Spurs last season. His playoff disappearing act was unforgivable.
Giricek would be a great fit. He's a smart player who can shoot from the outside and take it to the whole when needed. Those are the type of players we need.
Yeah, players who choke like dogs, can't do anything right and get totally out of sync with their teammates when games really matter.
Can't rebound, can't block a shot, doesn't steal the ball, doesn't pass it, either. Hey, lets pick him up!!!
I saw highlights of Sloan ordering GG out of the huddle, and him walking to the lockerroom. funny stuff, wish adelman would do that with our players...if your sucking, get out of the huddle...
Giricek simply sucks. always travel. when pressure is on, he misses. his defense is MIA. the Jazz is still searching for a SG badly.
I don't know. I just see a guy with a pure jumper and I want him on the team. I'm still a believer that we need to surround Yao with shooters like we did with Hakeem. Yeah, he choked in the past, but we could really use some shooting.
He would have been good for the Gundy system. Image him and Head at the 3-pt line with Shane Battier! T-Mac handling the ball and Yao on the low-post! That would have been nice.
There is an interesting thing... Phil Johnson, long time assistant to Sloan, said Giricek is their most talented player.
