Because he's playing in the All-Star game.

Yeah because if a player makes the All Star game, they don't play in the rookie game. Are you upset because Yao won't have to play in two games?

He's tired. I do agree. But compared to the All-Star game it means nothing but actually its a great honor for a player to play in a game like that. The game is only 40 minutes. Yao would play 18-22 minutes in that game at the most. All those young selfish players he'll be playing with. He'd never get the ball just like he does every game he plays in a Houston Rockets uniform. It'd be just like another day of practice.

    This from Houston Chronicle:

    Rookie spirit

Center Yao Ming was replaced on the rookie All-Star team on Wednesday by Spurs guard Manu Ginobili. But Yao said he would be there with the rookie team anyway.

"Because I am a rookie," Yao said of his interest in being with the Western Conference rookies the day before he starts for the Western Conference All-Stars. "I think to stay in my room and be bored, it would be better to go watch the game. I think I would rather sit with my fellow rookies."

Yao said he had even thought playing in the game would be nice. That option is not available, but he thought better of it anyway.

"I think that would be like a back-to-back," he said. "I don't think so."
