Gimme your best shot. Yao's stats for 2002-03 season

    Well, we've seen the future....

    and it looked about the way most of us optimists thought he would. Certainly more mature and stronger. Hope he dunks more in the season... but he won't always be guarded by potential all-stars either (like last night).

    My gut (and by God I've got a gut on me), tells me that he's gonna do the following:

    Minutes: 25"
    PPG: 14
    RPG: 12
    BPG: 4.5
    APG: 5.5

    Would that be ROY material?
    Would he be ROY if Rockets won 58 games?

    I think Ming will have some low performance games due to the lack of minutes initially. But AFTER the All Star Break, I see him averaging 18 pts, 11 rebs, 3.5 blks, 3 assist and shooting 55%....

    For the Season:

    Min/gm - 24
    Pts/gm - 11
    Reb/gm - 7
    Blk/gm - 2

    After All-star Break:

    Min/gm - 29
    Pts/gm - 14
    Reb/gm - 10
    Blk/gm - 3

    I think it will take Yao some time to get used to the North American game, and Rudy T will most likely gradually ease him into the rotation, rather than throw him out to the dogs at once. By the time January-Febuary rolls around Y.M should be starting to hit his real groove.

    hardeji, if Yao can manage to attain your #'s I would be very, very happy. Those numbers alone would challenge Garnett and Kidd for best all-round game. :eek:

    I was expecting relatively low numbers,(13 and 7.) but after that game against the US, I wouldn't be surpised if he got more. I would like to see how he plays against them the second time, but he got 13pts against the Top, or maybe near top :) , players in the NBA. He also should have been getting double, and maybe triple teamed because his teammates are really bad. They would also not give him the ball in a scoring chance, which got me mad. And when Bateer shot that 3, AHH!:mad: (he isn't a good 3pt shooter, right?:confused:) I think with a better offense, better teammates, and against mostly worse competition, he may be able to get around the high teens, or low twenties. The only problem I see is that he will probably get less mpg, but he should do ok. (also he could be tired, but he won't. He can't. NO! :) )

    His other number could be like this: 8rbs, 3blks, 3apg. JMO, though,

    wow!!! sum of yall set low expectation for yao :)... that is good so he doesn't have to worry about putting up high numbers on board :p

    Ditto that, WNBA. Those don't look like the numbers of someone who "sucks."

    Azim the Dream's numbers look good to me. Lemme piggyback him.
