There is no way to sign him. Other teams (that are in more need of a PG than we are) will be able to offer him more.

He's good.......really emerged.....could be very very good.......a star in a few years. But nah. He's a nice guy too. But we can't afford him. And I wouldn't trade for him. Golden State doesn't need anything that we have. They don't need Glen Rice. They don't need Eddie Griffin. They have Antawn Jamison, Troy Murphy, and Danny Fortson. They don't need Mobley when they have Jason Richardson.....and Earl Boykins :). They want Yao though.......:p

codell dont you think it would be worth us trying, you never know walm Houston is so much more inviting than a cold Denver. I realise the chance is slim but-New Coach+New Arena+ New Uniforms etc. it might just work!
If ever there was a good time for us to try its NOW!

Everything is worth trying. We can try and sign Duncan or Kidd, but I am sure they would laugh at us. Arenas is young and is coming off a pretty good year. This is one of the few times hell be able to get a monster contract. I seriously doubt he would be willing to settle for half of what he can get somewhere else, especially considering the fact that, as of now, Steve is still the PG of this team.

Let me get this straight, you rant and rave about Francis being a shoot first point guard, yet you are holding out hope for Gilbert Arenas instead? Have you ever watched him play?

Something that just popped into my head with regards to Arenas coming here. If he is going to accept the MLE from a team, I suspect the Lakers would be a much better option. LA is his hometown and he would be an upgrade over Fish. I am sure if Arenas' agent went to LA and offered Arenas' services for the MLE, the Lakers would jump at it.

Athletically he's an upgrade, but I doubt Arenas can manage the ship IN LA as well as Fish.

I see Arenas going to Miami where the money is. I like Arenas' game as well but we have to make some trades to even get GS to talk to us.

You would trade Francis for Arenas?

Do you want the Rockets to win?

some of this francis bashing just needs to stop

he's an allstar for a reason, he has flaws like everyone else. With the right coach he will be able to improve. Larry Brown did it for Iverson why can't he do it for Francis

See can't you see Yetti's brilliant logic?

    This (Arenas):

YEAR G GS MIN FG FG% 3P 3P% FT FT% STL BLK TO PF OFFREB DEFREB REB AST PTS
    2002-2003 82 82 35.0 6.2-14.4 .431 1.3-3.8 .348 4.5-5.7 .791 1.51 0.2 3.5 3.2 1.2 3.5 4.7 6.3 18.3

Is much better than this (Francis):

YEAR G GS MIN FG FG% 3P 3P% FT FT% STL BLK TO PF OFFREB DEFREB REB AST PTS
    2002-2003 81 81 41.0 7.0-16.2 .435 1.0-3.0 .354 5.9-7.3 .800 1.74 0.5 3.7 3.1 2.0 4.2 6.2 6.2 21.0

See? Isn't the difference obvious, not the statistics of course, because Francis is better, but Arenas is better because he is not named Steve Francis! Duhh!

Oh yeah, as his 6 assists and 3 and half turnovers per game prove, (as opposed to steve's inferior 6 assists and 3 and a half turnovers per game), he is clearly the pass-first Point Guard that the Yaoston Mingckets NEED!

I thought of Miami also. They have a ton of cap room. If Zo bolts, they have enough money to sign a couple of nice players (lets say Arenas and Olowokandi).

Miami, despite their bad contracts (Grant and Jones) are in a position to make a splash in the market and possibly get into the playoffs next year.

How about Francis for Arenas and Murphy? Arenas is like a cheaper and slightly worse Francis, while Murphy is an upgrade over Eddie. We can throw in a crappy draft pick if necessary.

i think it would be a gamble cuz both of them had a breakout year las year. But, i am sure they would be consistent. I like the trade.

I was thinking he could replace Mobley as Shooting Guard. If Larry Brown copmes to Houston, then Francis will have to play the Point5 Guard , but upto the standards that he played at the All Star Game. I have seen Gilbert Arenas play he looks very promising to me! I dont rant or rave. I just state facts- that Francis last season was a shoot first pass second type of Point Guard. You cant be upset about the Truth, can you?

am i going to have to start an "i love steve francis" thread just so we can see who is on what side of this bashing? its not like he completely ruined the rockets. there are countless games we would not have won without him. maybe he isnt as much of a team player as wed all like him to be but that happens sometimes when you are talented. you wanna do things youself becasue you feel like you can. all he needs is a reality check and he will be fine. you cant deny his talent level.
