Man he is getting good fast, real good. I wonder where he will end up after free-agency? I realy like his game and I know the Rockets have no shot. Golden State is playing well and they have a good young team I wonder if he will stay in Golden State? I think the Spurs should look into signing him over Kidd. Kidd the better player, but Arenas is so young no telling how good he will be at Kidds age.

'Everyone' says Denver. So, it must be true.

Nah, I don't think he will go to Denver. He would be beter off staying at Golden State.

Denver can offer him much more money. Players tend to go for that.

Every comment I have heard from Arenas makes me think he is going for the money. Arenas already feels that he has been underpaid the last 2 years by being screwed out of 1st round status so will want to maximize his salary the next time around. Denver has the inside track, others teams with a couple mill more than the MCE to offer have a chance also, GS has little chance he will stay for the MCE.

I am 99.9999% sure that Arenas will be a Nugget come August.

I hope so. I know the team wants to re-sign him, and I think Juwan is pretty happy here, but he wants to win a title and knows his window of opportunity is closing, so he might jump to a team like the Lakers that can offer him the MLE.

Everybody wants to win a title but some want to be "The Man" who wins the title. This is the case with Arenas who has played with a chip on his shoulder ever since he was drafted in the second round. He wants to show everyone that he is a star first. I don't think he'll go to the Lakers. Good news for you Nuggets4 and any chance of the Warriors getting him back. I do think he would resign with the Warriors if he and Musselman can get some of their differences sorted out.

Arenas would be a terrible fit for the Rox. He's a less talented Steve Francis. He a SG stuck in a PG's body and he was fell "ill" and had to miss practice after he was mad about his 4th Q PT. He seems like he wants to get paid and be the man more than win but I think he'll resign w/ G-State.

GSW over the CAP and could lose Arenas to anyone seriously under the CAP. GSW can only match to the ME due to being over CAP. LAC are not sold on Miller. Miller has family in NorCal, Arenas from SoCal. Miller with his Bird rights to GSW and Arenas with the right to match to a substantially under the CAP LAC........Bingo!!!

Perhaps GS has more than 'little chance', but probably not much more than that.

I fearlessly predict that GS will fall next year from this year's 'heights'.

Bikoff had an interesting trade suggestion (on ESPN Chat) -- Dunleavy for J Will.

I don't believe Arenas to Denver is as done a deal as the Nuggets may think.

First of all, the money difference isn't that huge. In fact, given the way his market value is skyrocketing, Arenas could lose millions of dollars by signing a long-term deal that starts well below the maximum. Signing a 1-year deal with GS, followed by a near-max contract in the summer of 2004, beats anything except a near-max deal starting this summer (which the Nuggets may offer -- and, IMO, will have to offer to take Arenas away from GS).

Second, how much does Gilbert want to win? You can easily make the case that the Warriors are a playoff team next year with him. The Nuggets are much further away, even if they sign Arenas and draft Lebron or Darko -- Gilbert's still raw himself, and he'd be further along than anyone on the team.

Third, the Warriors are built for Arenas' style -- they play at the fastest tempo in the league (for a while tonight, they were even running the Kings off the floor). Denver's coached by a Pat Riley disciple and is lucky to score 80 points most nights, slowing the game to a crawl to stay competitive.

And I haven't even gotten to the weather yet. ;)

Can't he "force" a sign and trade? Obviously, GS wouldn't have to do it, but if they're going to lose him anyway, why not get someone in return.

Somewhere East for MCE or GS for one year. There are a lot of good players available this year and think Denver will get a better player than Arenas.

Uh... no. We don't need him. Someone mentioned it earlier, his game is similar to Steves game.

GS could only sign and trade him for the same $$$ (mid-level exception) that they could use to sign him themselves -- and if he's willing to sign for the mid-level exception), he'll stay in GS.

I see. Another question. If he signs the mid-lvel extension, does it have to be for multiple years. Could he sign it for one year and then be in line for big bucks the next year from GS or elsewhere, under salary cap rules

Ahh, a tricky question. To the best of my knowledge... if he signs using the normal mid-level exception, yes, it can be for just 1 year (which no doubt is what Gilbert/his agent will want, and will get if they demand it).

He could also sign under the "early Bird" provision of the CBA, which basically gives GS an additional mid-level exception specifically to sign Arenas -- meaning that GS could use its normal exception on Boykins or some other player(s). But an "early Bird" contract has to be for at least 2 years, which may be too much for Arenas to swallow.
