http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/basketball/nba/04/05/arenas.wizards.ap/index.html WASHINGTON (AP) -- The season for Washington Wizards point guard Gilbert Arenas essentially came to an end Thursday when an MRI disclosed he would need surgery on his left knee. Arenas was diagnosed with a lateral meniscus tear and was to have arthroscopic surgery later Thursday at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington. The Wizards said the recovery time will be two to three months, meaning he might play again this season only if Washington manages to make the NBA finals without him. Arenas was injured in the first quarter of Wednesday night's 108-100 loss to the Charlotte Bobcats. ------------------------ Wow, that sucks. Gilbert is one of my favorite players and I like watching the Wizards. First they lose Butler, and now Gil. So much for making some noise in the playoffs.
From the main page I could only see "Gilbert Arenas to miss 2-3" and I jokingly said to myself "months", thinking it would be weeks. Ouch.
That really sucks for Wizards fans and fans of the NBA. Gilbert in the playoffs would have been fun to watch. Whoever gets the Wizards in the 1st round is going to get a gift playing that team. Talk about a cake walk!
WOW both gilbert and caron injured looks like the race for the 3rd seed in the east is going to be tough. i think toronto may win out. cleveland/chicago is too far ahead of toronto to lose the second spot, toronto is ahead of miami and i think the wizards may be too far ahead of the 7-9 spot race.
Well, they weren't going to do much in the playoffs anyways. There are essentially three or four teams in the East built for the playoffs: Detroit, Heat, Cavs, and Bulls. The Wizards are a season team. Regardless, I feel bad for him and wish him the best.
Misquote! It should read: Of course, Arenas is a perfect candidate for Bill Simmons' Ewing Theory. They always get nailed in the playoffs by not moving him to SG and letting someone else run the point. Their offense always devolves into rotating isos, easily exposed when defensive teams clamp down. But with Caron Butler out too, they're toast. I'd bloody my head against a wall if this were to happen to us after dropping so much money for playoff tix. I don't personally agree about the Cavs. That's a fairly motley roster LeBron plays with. Wow when I see these types of injuries, it scares me to think how easily it can happen to me when I play. Sucks for 0, hope he recovers quickly.
Major bummer. I was really looking forward to Gilbert in the East playoffs. He's one of my favorite players.
damn the team that gets them is going to have a cakewalk to the 2nd round, right now it's the Raptors, but Miami def. wants them.
Seeing how the players in the league evolved and the speed of the game raised too in the past decades, the league really needs to think about reducing the amount of regular season games. It wears the players out too much. I am sick and tired of heading into the playoffs without seeing my favourite players on the court. T-mac down, Gilbert out, many others out, damn. Sure I hope T-mac will be ready when the playoffs start but still, I want the teams ready and fully loaded. We need maximum 60 regular season games. Sorry, but I just hate to see Gilbert down. Fav player out of Rockets.
****t i'm so sad hes my favorite player other then yao and t-mac. damnit i was hoping for some clutch playoff drama from hibachi.
Tell me about it..Before going into this week.. I had Caron Butler Gilbert Arena Al Jefferson LaMarcus Aldridge Michael Redd......
