As you might have heard, Arenas was saying Wizards were losing because his teammates had ulterior "hidden motives". would you trade T-Mac + Brooks for Arenas and a big?
Even though I don't think Arenas is fantastic, I think the expectations some people have of what we will be able to get for T-Mac are just insane. Arenas right now is of more value (contract aside) than T-Mac because he's actually on the court playing, although not fantastically. As a player only, without the contract, this would be a dream trade right now for us (assuming we want T-Mac gone). I honestly think we'd be stupid to trade T-Mac unless he's been given a chance and can not produce, in which case his value would be lower than the basement value it already is, and we'd just let him expire. Maybe this will be our version of the Kobe trade which couldn't get done, and he'll end up winning a ring here...we can dream right. From an asset management point of view, because he's worth nothing right now, I don't see why we wouldn't hold on to him and resign him cheaply, for $6mil on a 1+1 deal or something depending on what he produces? His value can only go up from here...if the right piece comes along next year and his value is higher, we can ship him off then perhaps along with a Battier or Scola if a certain PF was available for trade.
Forget Arenas the player the Rockets need to trade for is Caron Butler. Last week Arenas was upset with his teammates and then later it was reported that the player he really has a problem with is Butler. This may be the rockets chance to swoop in and get something in return for McGrady's expiring contract. It would have to be Tracy plus picks if necessary for Butler and filler(such as Mike James and Brendon Haywood). Butler seems like Morey's type of player that plays hard and I like that he is a 2 way player. If Tracy is healthy then Washington may have a new big 3 and if it doesn't work they can rebuild the team in the offseason. Although Butler isn't a true 2 guard he is more capable at playing that spot than Battier or Ariza.
