Genesis 6:4 "There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown." What do you guys think of the mentioning of giants in the book of Genesis? It seems that these giants are the "Nephilim" and that they were the "children" of fallen angels and human woman. I've heard that they were the reason for Noah's flood, and also that they were the ancient Atlanteans and created a highly advanced civilization... What do you guys think of all this?
Yes. When Moses took the Israelites to the promised land they didn't go in because they saw giants and they were afraid.

Consider the region that the bible is in- it's all middle east, North Africa and Asia. These were little people. If they saw some fair-haired BIG Norsemen (Vikings), it's fair to say that they would think that they were giants. Given their fair coloring, the ancient bible writers might think that they were angles or descended from angels. Side note- anyone interested in history like this should read Pastwatch by Orson Scott Card. It's fiction (you might say science fiction). This group of people called The Pastwatch has the technology to look into the past and watch events. They discover 'Atlantis', Noah and The Great Flood. They also meddle a little with Columbus's history. Interesting stuff- Card is the most creative writer I've ever read.
goliath was a giant. i saw a special on history channel that talked about how he may have had a tumor in his pituitary gland which caused it to produce excess HGH. So he grew freakishly big but the tumor also pressed on optic nerves so he was not able to see very well. and david was able to slay goliat with his sling and stone.
If it's in the Bible.. then I believe it. Goliath was a massive human being, and what would be considered a "giant." Put it on your list of things to ask God when he returns.
Us guys think that they most certainly exist. Genesis speaks the truth. Don't let them fool you. Us guys know that they are still on earth somewhere. Maybe one day we will find them and they will shoot bows and arrows at our helicoptor.
I read an article once that said that in Istanbul (not Constantinople) there are quite a few large people. From what I understand, they might be giants.
hahahahaha. That was good. On the original topic, there are giants now, and could have been then. I don't think it's that important to the story, and since Genesis isn't really that literal to begin with(IMO), I don't ponder about that aspect too much. It's interesting to think about though in an academic sense.
