    Game 1: 7:05 - Williams 7-4 3.30 ERA v. Villone 6-5 3.99 ERA

    Game 2: 7:05 - Schmidt 16-5, 2.33 ERA v. Miller 14-12, 3.97 ERA

    Game 3: 1:05 - Ponson 17-11, 3.79 ERA v. Oswalt 9-5, 3.09 ERA

We have to take 2/3. I say WLW (Schmidt has been awesome this year). The Ponson games worry me, as we tend to struggle against pitchers we haven't seen.

Cubs are at Cincy for 3. Wood, Zambrano and Cruz vs. 2 scrubs and Superstar Todd Van Poppel.

If we can hold onto a 1 game lead heading into the weekend agaist Milwaukee, then things will look promising.

We're only a game behind in the wild card and IIRC, the Marlins/Phils still have a 4 game series left. I think we're in with a 5-2 finishing record.

Hopefully Alou keeps resting Bonds. We absolutely must take 2 of 3 this series. I could easily see the Cubs sweeping the Reds.

The Giants still have a chance for the overall best record in the NL, so I do not see Bonds not playing just so he can rest. Yet from
    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=230921119

"Manager Felipe Alou said he plans to play Bonds in four of the seven remaining games -- in two at Houston and two at home against the Dodgers."

The Giants (95 - 59) and the Braves (97 - 59) have the same number of losses, with Atlanta having 2 more wins.

The Braves have 6 games remaining (vs FLA (1), vs. MON(2), @PHI(3) )
The Giants have 7 games left (@HOU(3), vs. LA(4) ).

Am I missing something?. If Atlanta has played 2 more games than San Fran as of right now, shouldn't the Giants have to play 2 extra games to have played the same number of games as the Braves?

I noticed that on Aug 14, the Giants and Mets had a game postponed. I do not see that it was ever finished. This seems like it could play a factor in the home field race. Anybody know what the circumstances were around this situation?

Here is the response from MLB:

"Katy Feeney, MLB's vice president of scheduling, said Thursday that "a decision has yet to made, and there is only one scenario in which a Giants-Mets makeup game would be necessary." That is if the Giants finish a half-game behind the Braves in the overall NL standings. San Francisco has the better head-to-head record with Atlanta this year, so if the clubs finish with identical winning percentages, then the Giants would have home-field advantage through the NL playoffs."

In other words, if the Giants are 1/2 game ahead or better, the game does not have to be played because a tie would give SF home field advantage anyway.

We need to win 2 of 3 as the Cubs should win a majority of there games...

We hold our own destiny and should have the sense of urgency...I expect Miller and Oswalt to get it done, but we need Villone to come thru...

    Go Stros!!!

    Alright... playoffs start tonight.

Must beat the Giants and Brewers or we don't deserve to goto the playoffs. I don't even wanna look at the Cubs scores... they shouldn't matter.

I don't want to back in to the playoffs... lets take care of business now!!!

How great is it to be watching the Stros in yet another pennant race?

Williams looks good. Villone does not. Too bad Robertson isn't starting, coulda had Jeriome v. Jerome.

Good lord...Grissom & Gallarrrrrrrhaga have gone deep. We're getting slammed by guys that will be collecting social sec soon.

I expect Villone to put us in position to win, he's been solid all year.

DP by Ausmus... run scored by Berkman.

I dislike young umpires... they're too inconsistent (watch how the low strike won't be called later in the game... after these players b**** b**** b****).

Jimy better start warming up Fernandez and Miceli...

Villone just walked Aurillia, thereby loading the bases, to get to Bonds.

If I'm still posting after this confrontation, that means everything went well... otehrwise, this could be quite catastrophic.
