There have been a slew of signings and acquisitions in the West and it feels like many of our competitors are getting or have gotten significantly better. Feels more and more like we need to go through with a big trade to give us a shot in the near future. Dallas, Minnesota, Memphis, Lakers (w/Derozen), OKC, making me nervous.

Don't worry. By the time the Rockets are even remotely significant in the post season, most of these other teams would have aged out or traded away.

Our time will come. Maybe we resigning our contracts to gear up for a chance for a big trade or something . Just being optimistic.

are you sure about that? the teams that were better than us got better. Clippers got worse, GS got worse, Lakers got worse(they haven't done anything). Sac didn't do anything. Pelicans is a question mark. Memphis got better with Ja. So I disagree. Can't look at the top teams cause we weren't competing with them anyways.

    Dawg...

The Rockets aren't even a play-in team and you're worried about competing with title teams?

Rockets need to find one bonafide star before they worry about winning the championship.

This team is still probably 2 years from contention.

I couldn’t tell you who the real core is right now.

I don't really understand why everyone feels so urgent. 90% of our team are on rookie contracts.

We'll likely be competing for a play-in spot this year which will be fun to watch, and it'll be the real year to see if some of our young guys are for real or if we need to look into a trade in the next season or two. But we aren't in a position where we have to be forced to do that now

Being patient will pay off far more in the end

Who were we going to get? Klay Thompson?

The FA market was a small play for us this season and it was weak.

OKC got better but I doubt them signing Hartenstein is going to be the difference between us becoming a contender or not in the future.

If you don't believe in Jalen Green and Jabari Smith taking a leap next year, you should be worried. Whether we make the playoffs depends on how much growth we see from them.

This, LAC lost PG13, I don't trust Harden to either play, or end up happy in LA, GS lost Klay to DAL, LAL haven't gone much besides bringing Max Christie back on a multi-year deal, Having Ja back will help MEM big time, as long as he keeps out of trouble, idk about NO(they did trade for Dejounte Murray), or SAC, haven't seen anything on them, maybe small signings, but sure there cream of the crop in the West are the likes of OKC, DAL, MIN, but idk what PHX will do with their aging roster, hoping they don't do good, and just start to go downhill to help with our picks in the future, Obviously SA aren't a top contender, but they could get better, another yr for Wembanyama in their system, idk if UTH has done anything big, but with OKC getting Caruso, DAL getting Klay, idk where we would rank, too early to tell, but I think we can be at least a Play-In team, to maybe the 6th seed, maybe?

No need to be worried the teams in the West are all old AF. We should only be monitoring OKC and Spurs since these are the only young teams that matter.

being reactionary is not smart. Keep building and be positioned to pull off a trade at the deadline if a star becomes available at the right price.

I do, people are in impatient. Rebuilds are hard and they don't always guarantee success. There are real concerns amongst fans of threading water for a few more years. Considering the chosen one has not risen in our bunch (maybe Sengun, forces seem to be really against this one though), it is understandable why people are panicking.

I think only Dallas, OKC, and Minnesota will be still be young enough by the time the Rockets are potential contenders.

I don't expect Denver, LAC, LAL, Phoenix, or the Warriors to be contenders by that time.

But it's 2024 and all of those teams will look different in the next 3-5 years.

Klay isn't adding anything to Dallas. He's been dead to the Warriors for like 3 years now.

Rockets just need to hang tight with the squad they have. Very young, very talented and have depth at each position with the majority of the team capable of switching to multiple positions on both ends of the floor. Udoka has finished breaking in the team now he gets to build off of what they know and they should be starting from at least the ability of playing .500 ball from game 1.
