Alright guys, it's about time I get some protein powder... I asked some stores, but you can't really go by what they say.. So I asked around here and there, and here are the ones I'm looking at.. Keep in mind I'm not trying to gain mass, I'm trying to put on lean muscle.... I want something with a good protein:fat ratio. Here are the ones I'm considering Nature's Best Perfect 1100 N-Large (52gprotein vs 6g fat) Again, keep in mind I'm trying to burn off fat too, so I don't want something with too much fat, carbs and sugar... They all have a decent amount, but I would like to minimize it as much as possible... Gimme some sugegstions, what are you guys taking, what works, and what fits the description that I want...
I use MLO Products Vegetable Protein. No fat, no sugar, no carbs. 85% protein with balanced amino acids. Only 70 calories per serving = 7 g of protein per 2 TBspoons.
Sane, You should also look into Isopure Zero Carb whey protein, I believe it has 200 calories and 50 grams of protein per serving. It also has no fat and no sugar added. So if your trying to gain lean muscle and lose weight this is the way to go.
The fat that comes from peanut butter actually eats away @ bad fats and speeds up your metabolism. So they are really not bad if eaten in moderation.
BTW I use Champion Nutrition Pure Whey Protien Stack. 1 scoop = 130 Calories, 2g Fat, 4g Carbs, 23g Protien. I usually have two double servings a day.
I use Myoplex twice a day. I use the delux version which has more muscle building aspects to it but there is also an original and "light" which is what you might want. Not the best tasting stuff but none of this is, and you get used to it after a while.
Just stay away from peanut butter that has added hydrogenated oils... stick-to-your-arteries type stuff.
Don't get soy...unless you want boobs. Get whey or a mix like Myoplex. Myoplex is a meal replacement so it'll have more carbs then you want. I think the best value would be Optimum Nutrition Whey if you can find it. 7g in 2 tbsp...that's a waste of money. You do need good fats. You need to read some about nutrition if you think fats are evil. You can actually be more lean if you're getting the right fats.
I'm all about GNC Mega. I have at least 2 a day. They have 40 grams of good protein, 22 grams of complex carbs, and only 3 grams of fat and 2 grams of sugar. I think they taste much better than Myoplex. If you use lowfat milk, it tastes like a shake from Whataburger! I've always heard it's impossible to build muscle (lean or otherwise) without complex carbs. Doctor Robert, is there any peanut butter that doesn't have added hydrogenated oils? If so, what kind? I actually eat 2 tbs of peanut butter as part of my post-workout shake.
You can get natural peanut butter. Smucker's makes one. It has oil on the top that you have to mix in. Different people need different amount of carbs, but all your carbs should be complex carbs except for pre and post workout. I wouldn't take in any fats (PB) with your post-workout drink.
