I'm just finishing up all the planning. We'll be in a resort 10 miles from Disney and 5 miles from Universal. We'll drive to Mobile, AL, this Saturday and finish the drive to our Resort on Sunday. Three days of Disney, 3 days of Universal and then leave the following Sunday to be in Lake Charles, LA to sleep over, and then drive home on the 4th. Any last minute tips? We have six on the trip. Me, Tara, and the kids, 18, 8, 5, 4.
Make sure to pace and enjoy yourself. Don't get caught up with doing everything in a rush cause there is TONS to do but, if you try to go too fast, you will just get stressed and not enjoy it. My wife and I went to the two Universal parks, MGM Studios & Seaworld for a week a couple of years ago and it was great. 1) Get there for when they open the gates (or before if you have a special ticket plan). This way you can hit some of the rides or attractions you REALLY want to experience before it gets super packed. 2) Look for the booths/machines that you can reserve your time to go to a ride/attraction. They are usually sitting out in front of every ride/attraction. This way you can reserve a time for one ride, go ride another and come back and get in front of the line (they have an entrance for the reserved riders). The only that may be bad about it is, because you are basically short-cutting to the front of the line, you may miss alot of the stuff thay have available for you to see while your waiting in the other lines. Sort of like the stuff they had when the Batman ride first opened at AstroWorld where the line would go through the bat cave and saw the batmobile, etc. The stuff there is ALOT cooler and more entertaining. 3) Pack a bag of food you can much on throughout the day. Like you already know, the food/drink prices are crazy, but you won't have alot of time to sit and eat as you will be busy going from one thing to another. Munch while you walk. 4) Keep drinking water or whatever. Heat is a b****! 5) If you have a day, go to MGM Studios as well. 6) Check out the City Walk (I think it's called) in between the two Universal Parks. Lots of good restaurants and shops. Like I said, relax and have fun. You probably are going on vacation to get away from the stress that is life, just remember that. Good luck and have a great time!
You're DRIVING from Brownsville to Orlando with three little kids and a teenager? I got dibs on Falcon Talon's Mustang...
I have returned safe and in one piece. Anyone care to brief me on the goings on in the hangouts over the last week and a half?
