    Long read.
Congressman Ron Paul gives congress a case for getting out of Iraq.

If you would like to hear a reasonable plea to end the war read it.

Bush has said the next President will decide. No matter how many good ideas there are, no matter who develops plans, no matter who proposes a policy, we're in for as long as Bush is in.

It's easy... all signs point to eventually "getting out" because measurable progress is being made...Iraq, as it should will lay out the long term tactics dealing with internal peace...

"Getting out" is dependent on measurable progress being made...simple enough...

According to the Heisenberg principle its impossible to have true objective observation of anything since the act of observation changes what is being observed. This applies to the situation with Iraq and the argument about measurable progress is that our own presence there changes the factors towards making progress. So while we might say we leave when we make measurable progress as we are a factor there its impossible bor us to make a non-biased assesment of what constitutes progress.

Well none of us know what the future holds, it is hard to say there are good reasons to stay because such and such will surely happen. But there are several concrete reasons to plan an exit strategy.

    1. Economics- debt cost of war
    2. Reduction of casualties
    3. Constitutional functions of Congress and the national defense
    4. Decreasing the galvanization of anti-American terrorist thought in the region. (Occupation and presense alone galvanize the no win situtation we are in)

And other reasons laid out by Rep. Paul.

The only reason I can think of at this point to extend occupation is related to the regional need for a military presense due to the sensitive and strategic location of oil and gas reserves and their effect on the nation's economy and energy dependence.

As far as I can tell since there was no Al Queda link and no weapons of mass destruction, and actually no threat to the security of the U.S.; we have embarked on this pre-emptive war for the purpose of installing a government of our choosing for business reasons.

I didn't realize we had a mission to take out all the dictators of the world. Seems like you become one when you assume that power. The world's policeman mentality is frightening when you understand the implications of using war to enforce your ideas on others.
