It is starting to warm up around here and I am thinking about getting the windows tinted on my Accord sedan. I hate some of the after-market window tintings I have seen, though, that get a bunch of air bubbles in them or peel too easily. Does anyone have any suggestions about where I might go to get a decent job done and how much the cost might be?
I would HIGHLY recommend Sun Tint on FM 1960. They do alot of dealership work and they have reasonable prices. Most good tint places will offer you a warrantly also.
Not sure if they have Mother's here or not but they did a great job on mine in Austin and had a 3 year warranty.
Thanks for the advice. I would prefer to find a place on the west or southwest part of town, but will go out of the way to ensure quality.
Call Gary's Mobile Tinting. I've had my last 4 cars done by them. Also, when I bought my truck, there was a dispute over a tiny scratch. Anyway, they gave me a free tint job, and it was done by Gary's Mobile Tinting. Pgr 713.994.1723 There's another good one, on the corner of West Bellfort and 59. You can see from 59N on the right, it says Tinting, but it's also a car accessories shop.
Take 59 south exit Westpark and take a right...It's after Dunvale and before Gessner. I forgot the name but (damn) but the owner gave me limo tint all the way around for a really good price and did an excellent job. You can't miss it either, it is on the right handside. Not to fancy but great work. P.S. Don't get full limo tint unless you know somebody with a State Inspection facility
I don't mean to throw this thread off track, but I have a question in regards to tint. I noticed a "film" on the interior tint in my car. After I really got to scrubbing with windex wipes, a crystal like dust came off of it...this was off of both windows. Has anyone ever had this happen? And before the wise cracks start...I wan't masturbating onto the windows...
I think what happened here is you peeled off one layer (the crystal-like film) while the second layer remained adhered to the window. From what I know, that makes it more difficult to remove the tint when you've separated the layers. They use steam to get underneath both layers to loosen the adhesive, then peel back the layers in one fell swoop. Oh, and watch out for the defroster lines. If you f*ck those up, the terrorists win.
You should also never use glass cleaner of any kind to clean the tinted side of the window. The harsh abrasives eat away at the film, which you've now discovered. They selll stuff made to properly clean tint, or you can just use a mild soap and water combination. While we're on the subject of stuff you shouldn't use, you shouldn't use Armor All on your interior. The silicone magnifies UV rays, which will crack your plastic if you're not careful. That said, I'd been using the stuff for years before I found out about this and I haven't had a problem, but I'm seen some jacked-up interiors from the stuff.
Theres this place near Clear Lake called Gen-X Concepts. They do the tinting for the Lexus dealership right across the freeway. I got my tint done there, around 100 bucks. Lifetime warranty.
Beware of lifetime warranty. I got mine done at a place on Hillcroft just north of Westpark. It's a very busy place that a lot of people know about so I didn't pick it randomly. My tint bubbles every summer so it is a hassle to go back there every other year to get it replaced. One reason why I'm considering factory tint in the future.
There is this place on Nasa Rd 1 (Clear Lake) called Pablo Blue or something. I've gotten two Lexus'es a Camry and an Avalon done there. Could not be more satisfied. Not that expensive either. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
