I played my 1st BBall game in over a year
last week. Needless to say less than half way
through I was puffing like Woody Harrelson at a
    Norml Convention

    IT WAS NOT KEWL!!!

So I have to get my stamina back.
I detest the stamina exercise besides swimming
Running SUCKS! boring to me. Even with headphones

    But I gotta do it.
Otherwise i could not enjoy my favorite sport.
I will also add some Weights to my regiment

My goal is to lose about 20 LBs by the end of the summer
Question: Dietary Advice [not looking to JAred but need to cut back]
Exercise advice [esp for increasing jumping ability and weight loss]

    Thanks in advance

Swimming is the best cardio sport. It works every major muscle group. Plus, if you wear a baggy swimsuit and a t-shirt, the added resistance is a good for building strength.

Biking is superior to running. Works the leg muscles and doesn't wear down your joints like running does. The only problem you might have is finding decent places to ride a bike.

Diet: I've never really had a weight problem (knock knock knock), but you'll get a different diet tip from every person. Some swear by the high protein diet, others will tell you to increase your carbs. Fast food and junk food are probably the two biggest contributors to the obesity problems in America, so if you cut out those two things from your diet, you'll be fine...

Yeah, I know...easier said than done...

You won't find a better way to get in shape than getting out on the court and playing. Go to the court and call "Next", Get a good team together and keep winning . You are excercising and having fun at the same time.

If you have an empty court nearby, why not just shoot a bunch of shots and chase after every rebound? If it's a high rebound jump up and grab it then dribble back behind the 3-point line. I take 25 3-pointers and then take a rest. I do that ten times. That way you get a nice cardio workout, strengthen your legs, slightly increase the strength in your arms, possibly improve your ball handling skills, and improve your shot all at the same time!

DCKid, that was exactly what I was going to recommend
After doing that for a few weeks just go play and have fun

Also, I'm having trouble gaining weight, maybe because I play too much and burn up calories? What and how much do you think I should eat more to make up for this because I don't want to quit playing just to gain weight.

I used to eat fast food every day for lunch and i realized that I was getting winded very easily and I wanted to see if I could somehow lengthen my period of being effective on the court. I just started eating one salad and stopped drinking soda and I noticed in about a week or two that I was running faster for a longer period of time. Also, to get into shape, it's good to run sprints which are boring and hard. Run a horse in 32 seconds and then give yourself a 32 second rest and run another one and keep this going for about 10 horses. As it becomes easier to run these horses in 32 seconds, lower the time.
