    Mutombo's been an all-star 8 times.

    Payton's been an all-star 9 times.

    I think it's Mutombo.

I see Mutumbo is listed as appearing in the ASG 7 times, according to NBA.com

edit: nevermind, NBA.com's profile is wack. it says (regarding Mutombo):

Made his seventh career All-Star Game appearance in the 2001 NBA All-Star Game in Washington, D.C.

.. and nothing else.. not noting that he also appeared in his eighth the next year..

    so, duh..

oh well, I need more sleep.

I don't know how it wouldn't be sarcasm when there's a six page thread on this stickied to the top of the forum.

Looks like it's Mutombo alright, check out this link:

    http://msnbc.msn.com/id/5907539/

    (2nd paragraph from the bottom)

"Mutombo, an eight-time All-Star and four-time defensive player of the year, has averaged 12.2 points, 12.1 rebounds and 3.33 blocked shots in 13 years with New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Atlanta and Denver. He is fourth in NBA history with 2,996 blocks. "
