I know several people who say that Shaw's does the best custom work in town. The ones I've seen in person have been impressive. That's where I'm planning to go once I lose a few more lbs and am ready to get the ribs done (ouch!).

I don't know if you want to make the trip or not, but celebrities really love Gill Montie in Beaumont. Apparently, the really inked up Hollywood celebrities like Johnny Depp go to his shop in Beaumont for tattoos.

My girlfriend took me to see this guy's book about a year ago. Later, he was named best in town by the Houston Press. She had seen some work he did on her friends in New York. The shop he works at is in Montrose on Westheimer, next door to Poison Girl.

    Best Tattoo Artist (2007)
Brett Osborne of Bombshell Tattoo and Piercing

Osborne isn't as old or as experienced as Houston tattoo-artist illuminati such as Dan Martin and Tiger John. Nevertheless, Osborne has firmly established himself as one of Houston's most talented with a needle-tipped gun. Lovers of permanent ink outside of his hometown have taken notice, and some of his colorful works have landed him spreads in magazines such as International Tattoo. But he doesn't live just for tattoos; Brett practically eats, drinks and sleeps art in one form or another, from working on paintings at home to making ceramics to his clothing line, Maybe One Day. This man just lives to create — especially on your skin.

Seems like it might be a good idea to be able to spell "tattoo" correctly before getting one. Then again, that's just me.

Seriously, how much does this hurt. I've been seriously considering getting one, but I am pretty much a huge wuss.

I want either an old school Rockets logo or the DMB Firedancer.

You mean as in PAIN ON THE SKIN or PAIN ON THE WALLET? :D

I'd say since it is BOTH, I'm never getting one, EVER.

really, how much pain wallet/skin is this?
