    1. We beat a very good Blazers team, without HCA.

    2. Even with a $20MM hole in the roster, we are a top 5 or 6 team in the League. Yeah, i said it.

    - The Lakers and a healthy Boston are the elite teams. You can toss Cleveland in there as a to 3 team, probably. (I still want to see them do it in the playoffs, not just beat cupcake teams).

    - We are right there with Denver and Orlando. In a 7 game series, I'd take our squad, with a 20MM hole in the roster, 7 days a week and twice on sundays. You can toss in Portland into this group.

    3. We have a boy genius in Morey to plug that that $20MM hole. Do just that and you can toss us into the mix with LA, Boston and Cleveland. Yeah, I said it and all the other teams know it.

    4. This team is worthy of our admiration and fun to root for. We have upside in our PG's, Wafer and Landry. We have Ron Ron, version 2.0. And there's Yao, the most solid, hard working and tough guy you want in the middle. yeah, this team is not perfect, but damn, it's the best one we have had in decades

    5. SA is old. NO is a mess. Dallas is a joke. PHX is done. Utah can't get their act together and may disintegrate completely depending on their offseason roster moves and sloan's status.

    6. We lost Game 3 to an elite team because we did't play well. It happens. We're not dead in the water and we have better basketball ahead of us, as soon as Game 4.

Let's all get some perspective people, stay positive and be loud in Game 4

I'd say this team without McGrady is only inferior to the Lakers and Cavs right now (Boston not included since KG is out). So basically with a $21million player missing in action, we're legitimately the 3rd of 4th best team in basketball. i'd say that's quite an accomplishment and should be recognized but common fans easily forget this fact and are quick to talk down and negatively criticize the team when no one expected them to get this far without McGrady.

I'll be more than proud of our team even if they go on to lose the next 2 game and lose the series knowing all these facts. We made possibly the best team in basketball give it their best to squeak past these Rockets when we're missing a 20pts 6reb 6ast a game player who commands a lot of attention or u could look at it like we're competing with the best team in basketball with a squad that costs $21million less.

Regardless of the outcome of this series (I still believe we have a chance), I will be extremely proud of the Rockets.

excellent post we all just need to stay positive and be as loud as ever at home. This series is far from over, just because LA won a couple games the media jumps right off our bandwagon to LA's. Its ok cos we aint got room on this wagon! Believe in this team and the coach!

    Excellent post Rileydog!

No team with an elite player missing(Boston, SA, Houston, and even Orlando with Nelson) can expect to win it all....ain't gonna happen.

Don't know if RA can squeeze any more blood out of this turnip. I'm simply enjoying watching this no-quit bunch rattle the Laker's cage!!

Perspective: We are in a lot better shape than Dallas is. They have an 0-2 start to climb out of. We are 1 game from tying it up again. If our team plays smarter which they have it in them to do because they've risen to the challenge before ... they will win not beat themselves on Sunday like they did last night. Go Rockets.

I feel pretty comfortable about this team for next year. As for the series, I can't say I share the optimism. Aaron Brooks has been figured out, and the Lakers for the most part have controlled the last two games. I don't think the Rockets are good enough offensively to hang with the Lakers, especially when Yao is being taken out of games with the front.

good post by op. was gonna start a similar thread myself.

one can point out our inefficiencies here and there, and also complain about the refs. the thing is, we are an incomplete team. we have a 20mils hole on our roster. add ray allen to this team now, or take away kobe (or any combinations that's worth 20mils) away from the lakers, and we will see what happens.

here is my list of elements to win a title -
    grit
    smarts
    luck

we have the grit and fight in our players. we probably don't have enough smarts in every player. what we need now is a little lucky break. i was stunned by the bad lucks we've had and continue to have so far. hope the luck changes in our favor in a major way in the next few days.

i agree, we can make some stops defensively, but they'll still score.

then on offense, it just doesn't seem like we can score enough to keep up.
i hope it's different in tomorrow's game though!
it seems like our best options are to artest for a post up or taking it in, scola posting up, or getting it inside to yao whenever we can. and then we have our 2nd unit of landry, lowry, hayes, and wafer.
maybe brooks can make some adjustments and add something to the offense.

I fully and completely agree with your post. This team has already shown us a lot of grit and determination, and has a lot more talent than people realize. Even if we lose this series 4-1, I still believe this has been a successful season. We can play with the Lakers, and therefore we can play with any team in the NBA right now.

However, just to correct item #4 above, this is the best team we have had in A DECADE, not multiple decades. The 1993-1997 Rocket teams were really good.

Agreed - perspective is lacking on the site some days. I am sticking to "the series is a loss if we don't crack a Laker across the head on a layup - NO LAYUPS!!!!"

I agree with the OP. I also think that tomorrow's game is so important because if we win, while most still won't give us a chance, it will be a mental advantage on the Lakers because we will have figured out their adjustments.

A young team learning how to win in the heat of the battle can get on a role...by young I mean our young players. But I think the Lakers just have that secret weapon named Kobe Bryant. If he gets off tomorrow, the only way that we win is to have less than 10 turnovers, meaning all of our younger players have to play the best game of their life.

I really really want us to win tomorrow, although I will admit that I am not confident that we will. Even if Yao plays, he will still be hurt. But if we win, the Lakers will be in trouble.

Man I was very disappointed in the way the Rockets played in game 3. But that being said, here is a team that lost it's starting backcourt, (TMac and the trade of Alston) and it's number one perimeter option, but is still in the mix. How many teams in the league could do that? I don't think too many. It kind of sucks...last year after winning 22 games in a row, we had to play in the playoffs without Yao, and this year we have Yao but no McGrady. Damn - I wonder what we could do if had them both healthy.

Lets get this done by winning the game tomorrow. It is not like the Lakers can't be beat. The Rockets just need to come out attacking the Lakers and cut out the to's. Rockets in 6 I still believe.

this series will take 7 games to end it. JVG is right on point, but Rockets can steal game 7 if refs dont help LA

we need to get something in return for mcgrady, we need a talented scorer. We have everything a team needs, toughness, size, passion, experience, to be a championship team except that talented scorer that can close out games. If we had that scorer there is no doubt in my mind we could kick anybodies ass. That scorer was supposed to be Mcgrady but 1) he is injured as always 2) i just dont think he has that team mindset that it takes to win. The perfect person that would take us to the promised land is D Wade, i wish there was a way to get him because he is perfect for our team, not to mention he is a team player and a good person. Other ppl are Redd, Richardson, ect.. but we need somebody that can get the ball in the basket.
