Last year we adjusted to Yao. Now this year, Yao needs to adjust to US!!! I think communications is a bigger issue than the Rox are telling us!! I say get rid of that translator and FORCE Yao to speak American English. Having a translator there just keeps Yao as a passive listener. Have Yao immerse himself in English and American culture. Also, god knows what Pine tells Yao!! If Ewing says "get mean you *******", Pine might be telling Yao "he wants you to be a little more assertive". Has anyone seen Yao shout anything in English????? Is it too hard to learn the four letter words? Can Pine teach him those things, or is that against his morals?? Also, please tell Yaos parents to go back to China!! Are they on some NBA parents visa or something??? I'm sure they're nice folks but pleeezzee how many NBA players live with their parents??? Have Yao live with some Americans, maybe an American family. That will force Yao to speak and listen to in English.
Yao speaks English probably better than 75% of NBA players, right? He chats with Steve all the time on the sideline... I agree with you about Colin, though...I'm not quite sure what his purpose is, since Yao knows how to speak and understand English. Maybe he tells Yao to keep talking in Chinese so he'll still have a job?
Interesting point of view on Colin Pine... But chill the f*@k out about his parents already... which relatives he want to live with/near is none of your business. And no, it's not a cultural thing, there a lot of people in this country who live with or close to their parents as well. Considering that NBAers are on the road a lot, he gets to see his folks less than many Americans who live in the same neighborhood as their family. If you want to be a xenophone... at least try to be not an ignorant xenophobe.

I remember in an preseason interviewed, Ming said he expected to speak all by himself at the end of the season. He said he pretty much don't use Pine during pratices these days.

Am I the only one that remembers JVG saying that Pine was no longer allowed to intercede for Yao in games or practices? or was that just in games? not sure which. I do know that he specifically said that he expects Yao to understand and talk with his teammates and coaches without the help of Colin Pine.
I think Colin Pine and Yao may play Dudgeon and Dragons together.
