Get ready for ''The Simpsons'' movie. Look for a feature-length 'toon featuring Homer's clan in 2006 by Gary Susman FAMILY BUSINESS The Simpson family will star in its own feature film After 15 years, Homer Simpson is finally ready for his close-up. Variety reports that a feature-length animated movie version of ''The Simpsons'' is in the works. Series creators Matt Groening and James L. Brooks, along with five other past and present writers from the series, are preparing a script for the movie, which would likely hit the big screen in 2006. ''Simpsons'' scribe Mike Reiss spilled the beans about the secretive project earlier this week to DVDFanatic.com. ''They've wanted to do this since season two. It's been 13 years of wanting to do 'The Simpsons' movie,'' Reiss told the website. ''Finally Fox said, 'Let's just do it!' We never had the greatest idea that was compelling but Fox said, 'Maybe if we start paying you, you'll get inspired.' And sure enough, it worked!'' Reiss didn't want to say too much about the premise, telling the website he hasn't even divulged it to his wife. ''We've got a very good and interesting idea, and it's different from the show,'' he said. ''You know, it's like the 'South Park' movie where it's just a bigger, longer, amplified version of the show.'' So does that mean Bart will meet Cartman? Cowabunga! (Posted:02/11/04)
Not sure this is sucg a good idea and I'm a simpson's fan who watches daily. I just don't think it can bring on anything new.
I feel the same way. I read an article or interview a while back where they said they didn't want to do a movie just to do a movie. They wanted to make sure it was going to have a really good script. Groening said something about wanting Bart to lose his virginity to an older woman. Not sure if that was a joke or something he really wanted. Hopefully they're doing it because they have a good script.
Oh please don't screw this up. Please don't screw this up. Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please don't screw this up. I feel like I'm about to watch MJ in a Wizards uniform. C+ MJ is still MJ, but is it worth it. Do we need two hours of C+ Simpsons?
I think movies from TV are best done after the show has ended it's run, like Star Trek, and not during the run, like X-Files.
I am so there. I watch the Simpsons every day. I don't know what they can do to make it new, but hey...it's the Simpsons. Speaking of animated tv shows, I have really started liking Family Guy. I haven't watch an episode that has not made me lough out loud. I love Family Guy.
Keep in mind they won't have to play down to the Fox censors. I think it will be incredible. Iv'e been hearing about a Simpsons movies for years now. I heard they were going to wait until the last tv episode ever to make it. It will be great.
Welcome to the Family Guy fan club! Manny was our most recent convert...and he has never regreted it! It may also be pleasing to know that not only are they in talks to bring back new episodes of FG...but possibly a movie also. Thank you Cartoon Network. oh yea...ontopic...This would be cool(Simpsons movie) as long as they do it like the Beavis and Butthead movie did....make the movie revolve around a unrelated event or trip....not just two hours of running around Springfield..
where is this reference from? what does it mean? I've seen it a few times and never knew either Rocket River
After a tiring night with the octuplets. Ned: Yeah, they can be a handful -- of joy. Apu: Shut up! Ned: They'll fill your lives with-- Apu: Shut up! Ned: [quickly] Can't put a price on a miracle! Apu: I can't believe you don't shut up! I've always wanted him to say **** off in that scene instead of "shut up".
