Instead of getting McGrady, why didn't Houston go after Kobe instead. Kobe + Yao is better than McGrady + Yao in my opinion. Kobe wants out and has opted out of his contract. Man, how enticing is this...We're talking Kobe Bryant here folks!!!! Kobe and Yao...OMG!!! Grasp the opportunity ...this only happen once in a life time. This is better than McGrady and Yao. Plus I think the thought of him playing with Yao will be more enticing than him staying with the Lakers and keep losing. So i am sure Houston should be able to pull off a trade or do something. Kobe & Yao seem to be good friend too and I have NO DOUBT Kobe likes Yao's game and his potential.
Well, how about because Mitch Kuptchak has already said that under no circumstances will they agree to a S&T for Kobe.
Kobe is already a free agent as of now. Houston is over the cap and can only offer him MLE. So Houston has ZERO chance of landing Kobe this off season. Every other team has 0.01% chance of landing Kobe since Shaq/Jackson is gone from the Lakers. So stop the pipe dream already!
Why so much hatred for Kobe? His jail problems aside, I would take him in a sec! All great ones have an ego and Kobe is no different. He might not be that much better then McGrady, but he is the single most clutch player of this generation.
1. Highly divisive (look what he did to the Lakers) 2. One leg-iron away from being out of the NBA 3. Arrogant beyond belief 4. Recurrent shoulder and knee injuries 5. Will constantly demand the max 6. Forgets about teammates so he can be the one and only .......(shall I go on and on and on)? I have refrained from these Bare Bryant threads, but how many of the posters in the "Karl Malone on the Rockets" thread retched at the thought of Malone on the team and yet want Bryant?
ESPN reports that Buss is going to rebuild around Kobe. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?id=1824721
There's a 0.000000001% chance of getting him anyway. We don't have the cap space, LA has made it clear they won't do a S&T even if he walks. These threads have got to stop. Evan
You guys are wrong. Yes LA say they will do absolutely everything to keep Kobe...but at the same time, if Kobe wants to be traded, they said they can't do nothing about it. I don't see Kobe wanted to stay losing in LA as oppose to come over Houston and playing with another big man. Hey he can use this as a mean of saying "f....Shaq, I got Yao here" and can use this to intimidate Shaq. Kobe is still young like Yao and if he's not in jail....it will be a sign and trade for Francis or someone.
He sure didn't look like the best in the Finals, when a team decided to focus on him instead of Shaq for the first time. With that being said, I would trade anyone not named Yao (assuming he won't do time).
My understanding is Lakers will dare him to walk away from $140 mil and take $100 from other teams. They won't sign and trade. Pretty bold move, but it may work best for them. Kobe has to say "i don't want to play for you, and **** you even it means **** myself."
This thread is pointless because Kobe wouldn't want to play with a dominant big man! He wants to be Da Man, not one of a duo, i.e., Kobe and Yao.
Kobe didn't want to play with a big man??? Now where the hell did you get that idea. Sure he doesn't want to play with a big man like Shaq with all the ego and hatred that he brought up, but don't take it as a mean that he hates to play with all big men including Yao. Get some freaking clues.
