    Germany - USA 4:2

There was a soccer friendly match between the national teams of Germany and the US today...Germany won 4-2. Germany was almost only playing reserves, but it was a good game to watch. I think the American team has made a lot of progress within the last 10 years or so.

Most definitely. They're actually competitive, no longer a joke.

    It's nice to see.

Unfortunately, your title was a spoiler. The game is scheduled to be on ESPN (tape delay) tonight.

Soccer's the sport that I played the most, and which I'm best at, but I have trouble watching the US. They just lose so damned much and there's very little hope of them being any good in the immediate future.

I happened to be in the stadium. It was a very entertaining game, but Germany had a huge physical advantage.

However, the US national team has fought its way up and earned lots of respect. Bruce Arena has done a great rebuilding job and the their record this year (6-2-2) is pretty good.

Too bad they have a pretty strong group in the World Cup - I like them a lot.

They have a weak group in the World Cup and have an excellent chance at getting through for the first time ever.

Germany has been playing terrible this year and barely made it in...5-1 loss to England on German soil..disgraceful.

The USA has in it's opening grouping.

South Korea - A Horrible squad, but on home turf anything can happen.

Poland - A very competent squad, but not of top international caliber

    Portugal - See Poland

Arguably the USA will be favored in at least 2 of those matches and maybe all 3.

I believe the US is now ranked 16th in the world. I have a really good feeling about the upcomming World CUP.

    U-S-A...U-S-A...

    :)

I don't think the Korean team is worse than the US team, and historically, it has been better. The home turf advantage should help it finish ahead of the US.

Poland is the one team that I think could be beaten by the US - if you are lucky.

Portugal is clearly a team that should beat the US. Luis Figo is only one of the top international caliber players they have. Their style of play is similar to the Brazilians.

Good luck, but I don't see it.

That´s actually the first time I heard someone calling the US´ group easy.

Portugal can go very far in this tournament as they should clearly win the group, no doubt about it. Favoring the US against Portugal is something most experts would laugh about.

Poland are on the rise. Well, there not exactly a soccer power but they might finish second.

Don´t really know about South Korea, but with the home court advantage in the back their heads, they might beat the USA.

Although I don´t like it, I guess the USA will definitely not get to the next round. They have a nice nucleus, especially with Clinth Mathis and Landon Donovan.
    And a good coach.

Well, Germany needed the relegation matches against Ukraine, but at least they got seeded. See what happened to England! Ha!

We lost to friggin' Iran in 1998. I'm not taking anything for granted.

US played the role of "anklegrabber" last night against Germany. If Kasey Keller didn't play amazing, Germany could have scored 8+ goals.

Clearly, the team is not ready to win any matches of any worth away from American soil.

I predict a tie against Korea. Tie against Poland. And a loss against Portugal.

If US wants to advance, they must at least beat one of Poland/Korea and tie the other.

A 1-1-1 record might do the trick, provided that US has a good goal differential.
