I was looking at Gerald Fitch's NBDL stats and they are horrible. In the NBDL, nobody plays defense and his stats still suck. He can't shoot or create for anybody. He doesn't even get playing time for a NBDL team. I was wondering why the Rockets got him for DA. Since CD claimed that there was a lot of interest in DA, why couldn't he get anything better than Fitch. The Rockets must think very little of him. With T-Mac and David Wesley out, they kept this scrub in the NBDL. Why don't we just waive him and sign a wing player who can shoot. Some guys who fit that bill in the NBDL include Desmon Farmer, Mike King, and Ezra Williams. I guarantee that all of these guys are better than Ryan Bowen. http://www.nba.com/dleague/playerfile/gerald_fitch/index.html?nav=page
I have been watching him play here in Austin, and he does NOT suck, he is just not comfortable with the other players on the floor. He has had some good assists, specifically to Jamar Smith, but his offensive game has struggled. And, who said they don't play defense in the NBDL? The scores are higher because teams PUSH it up the court...it is like watching Phoenix play every night...up and down basketball. Fitch has played OK, and he is lightning quick....give him more than 3 games to get used to the system..... DD
There are probably a bunch of people at the Y that would bring more to this team than RyBo does. This whole situation is mind boggling to say the least...More power to him though, hes making his money
I agree its small sample size but looking at his stats for the Heat, they are similar. Also why don't the Rockets call him up with Sura, T-Mac, and Wesley out. The currently have only 11 active players for tonight. That tells me what they don't think a lot of Fitch that they won't even call him up with 3 injured players.
I think we trade DA more as a favor to DA than anything else, so that he could get playing time with a contending team.
We got a ~$1.5M trade exception in the DA trade, and we have until next year's trade deadline to use it.
To call him up is to have him come up and learn another system that he's not used to. Wesley just got injured, so there was really never much time to react to that situation. Who are we going to send down if that's the case? I'm not sure what the rule was about sending injured players to the NBDL? Also, unlike Brunson, which I'm sure you're going to bring up, this guy's young. His stats with the Heat are what they are because of the people ahead of him. Fitch is a player that we have a CHANCE to develop and this is a trade that could help us dump the money that was likely to be picked up from DA as a second year player's option.
DA is playing well for the Heat. He could have helped the Rockets make a play off push especially with T-Mac out, but hey JVG thinks you should practice hard even if you got hit by the team bus.
Well a) Wesley just got hurt and isn't out for a long period. b) You can list as many injuries as you want, it doesn't change that we have Rafer, Bogans, Head, Brunson, Wesley (day to day)...that's 4 and maybe 5 guys ahead of Fitch. He wouldn't be getting time anyway. The whole idea was to get him some PT, which as someone said, he will slowly get as he gets acclimated. Now other than that, I'll take DD's actual watching of a guy playing over someone looking at stats and making assumptions. Especially over a small sample size. But either way.. stats don't tell all, especially in a D league, on a new team. Plus you said his Miami stats were similar? In what, 7 minutes per game? That's not even close to enough to justify even using those to gauge anything. You would have had to have watched him in those games, too, to make any judgments
