Just saw The American this weekend - one of the worst movies I've ever seen in the theaters.

I haven't been a fan of much he has made lately. I know alot of people liked Up in the Air, and while I didn't think it was as good as everyone thought, it wasn't terrible.

Other than Ocean's 11 and O Brother, Where Art Thou, everything he has made has been ****.: Syriana, Burn After Reading, Men who Stare at Goat, etc etc. All terrible.

Moral of the story, don't see The American.

Michael Clayton was awesome. He also directed Good Night, and Good Luck. And some of those bad movies you named had very big name directors, so it's not like they were George Clooney vehicles or anything. But yeah, I thought Burn After Reading was horrible.

Same can be said about Jennifer Annison. Both are on all the magazines, but neither make good movies.

His movies are very 'adult'. By that I mean, they are somewhat cerebral, deal with politics, dull middle-aged type sex if there is any, and lack the 'bang' of ordinary action movies.

By and large, I like his movies. But I won't watch them if I want mindless explosion-fest. That's what Hollywood swill-mongers like Bay and Bruckheimer are for.

It's kind of Edgar Allen Poe. Fantastic writer, but not light reading, and you don't put the book down with a happy feeling in your heart.

That movie looked terrible, what did u expect? I am not a clooney fan, in fact I don't like most of his stuff, but Up in the Air was arguably the best movie of 2009 imo

No way you can compare Jennifer Anniston to George Clooney. Is there even one non-chick-flick she's been in?

Also, if we go back far enough there was also Three Kings, which is one of the best and most underrated movies of all time.

Hrm, I actually enjoyed Up In the Air, Syriana, and Michael Clayton.

Watch "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" or "From Dusk Till Dawn". Relatively few people have seen those movies, and they both have Clooney giving solid performances.

If you're breaking out Three Kings, you have to give Anniston credit for Office Space, one of the funniest movies of all time. And a non-chick-flick.

I've liked several of Clooney's movies, including Up In the Air and Burn After Reading.

Yeah but Office Space is a million times better then anything Clooney has ever been in so it evens out.

The American was awesome. An existential hit man film. Not for Joe popcorn though, too cerebral. Tons of full frontal female nudity.

    I didn't watch that movie, probably won't.
Though I think he has been apart of some pretty good films...Michael Clayton, Good Night and Good Luck, Up In The Air. And I think he is a good actor.

Though when it comes to big name A-List actors...I prefer others....
*Leo- Particularly lately, I think he has done a great job of going from his Titanic image, to really trying to be apart of some solid projects. Though don't get me wrong, I do like Titanic for what it is...and thus cry like a b**** every time.

*Johnny Depp-Mostly his earlier to mid career stuff, after Pirates happened he became so mainstream and marketable. In addition, started doing stuff that I just didn't like. The Pirates franchise, I watch those films and after think...what the hell was that movie about. Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the CF...no.

    *Sean Penn
    *Brad Pitt....well, kind of.

Actually, in her defense, the Good Girl was a very good movie and she gave a good performance. Don't know why she didn't continue making similar movies after that.

I can't believe people actually liked Burn After Reading. Maybe I went into it with too high of expectations.. but it was one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

Good thing Matt Damon followed it up with another terrible movie in the Informant. Maybe it's just a type of "comedy" I don't get..
