Going through Clutch's thread of Better Days really made me reminisce on the past and how good things once were or felt they would be. What is the general feeling of the Rockets now? Are you optimistic, sad, angered, or just do not care anymore? I feel optimistic, yet sad at the same time. I know it has only been two seasons since we last made the playoffs and that things could be worse (Cavs) but I feel that we have and should have high expectations of our team, we should desire to be a top team in the west and respected with teams like the Spurs and Lakers. I just hope we are able to turn things around soon, it really stinks not having a winning team in Houston... Hopefully the future has much more success for this team, I can't help but to love the Rockets, even if it does hurt at times
I'm worried because I have a feeling Morey would be content going through a couple more seasons of medicore to crap filled ball just to be in position to grab the brass ring. The approach is sound long term but extremely risky in today's, and possibly tomorrow's, NBA. I do, however, still have plenty of confidence in the guy that eventually he might just see the light and rebuild completely or Les will make him...either way there is a future.
I feeling good. We are reloading not rebuilding. We have a GM and coach who appear to be able to reload.
I am too emotionally involved following a mediocre team; if nothing significant goes down at the deadline than for my better health I should stop being so obsessed with the Rockets, at least until we get back on the right track.
Why would any star come here when they can go to LA, Miami, NY, Boston, or Chicago, instead? We don't match up in glamor or in prestige. We must draft our first superstar and use them to recruit other lesser stars. With the 12th pick in the 2011 NBA draft, the Houston Rockets select....
General feeling is if we stay the course and nothing changes then we will be a .500 team. If a trade happens and it's for Carmelo it will be an exciting 2nd half and that will be it because he will leave for NY. If we just go ahead and just start to experiment with some D-league players and lose a lot more games then we get a shot at top pick 1-5. Basically we will never become a "Championship" team without a legitimate Superstar=Tier 1. Very high probability we will not get one in the 3-7 year range. I'm sure Darryl Morey is doing everything he can to get one but I don't see any players in the Tier 1 realm that would want to come here.. We will be good competitive team that will always be looking for trades until we can get a Tier 1 talent.
AB, Martin, and Hill? I feel deflated because I honestly thought Yao wouldn't break anything this year.
right now i keep re-freshing the forum to see if there has been any breaking news on a trade, other than that this is a bloody bore of a season. I don't even anticipate the games anymore, if they are playing while i'm at home with nothing to do I watch but my life doesn't revlove around them until they start playing defense and play with intesity and urgency. Not coughing up leads, this team is reminding me more and more of the texans, loser mentality.
Indifferent. I'm slightly anxious to see what personnel moves transpire before the trade deadline, but beyond that, there's not much to look forward to before the draft.
Eh, in general, I think there's a feeling of mundaneness coming from Toyota Center these days. Until a move is made, I just don't see how this team will ever be anything other than mediocre. We have no inside presence, no superstar to pick up the slack, and a penchant to forget about playing defense at the most inopportune times. It's a young team, but that isn't always an excuse. I just think overall, the fans, the front office, and the players themselves are just biding time until the trade deadline to see what shakes out. It's not a good way to play out the season, but it's our reality.
No kidding...despite so many complaining about the season we're right there. We dont even need to bring in a star to get that 8th seed. We can get it with some minor upgrades. Sure, everyone will say "for what, another 1sr round exit", but they'll be glued to the TV when that first round starts. Plus, we probably match up better against SA than any other top team.
Hoping that something good comes our way on or before the 24th. It will be rather painful to continue watching the group as assembled if it remains through the end of the season. Even the wins can be painful - see last night. I thought we needed a replacement for JVG because of his lack of O but now I see that it is worse to be on the other side - O and no D.
If the deadline passes and nothing happens I will be quite bummed about the current state of the Rockets. And this is coming from a perpetual optimist.
