I was listening on 610 just a minute ago and they were playing those two guys from last night and I gotta say it was great to hear them. They are going to be missed badly. Just hearing them all emotional about the game means a lot to me and i'm sure to all of you guys...

It's going to be sad moment once they are done....

    Your take?

    I preferred Bob Worrell's play-by-play last night. :p

I recorded last night's audio feed, and I will try to post it this evening. I absolutely loved Jim's comment "I never thought I'd see this again". I've probably got 100 great memories from listening to Gene + Jim, and I wish they'd come back next year -- bring back Deke, Gene, and Jim.

I was watching NBATV & they played the last 60 secs of the game as called by Gene/Jim. You could CLEARLY hear their emotion of moment. It sounded as if they were on the verge of tears of happiness.

    It was amazing.

BTW, does anyone know who will replace Gene and Jim? I don't know of any prominent basketball announcers in Houston outside of the current people. Are they going to bring in out of towners?

I love Gene and Jim. They bring an old school feel to the game.

I used to listen to them back in '99 when I lived in Corpus Christi b/c I was so addicted to the Rockets even back in 7th grade. Now I hardly listen to them. The internet has spoiled me.

I really am worried who is going to replace them next year. I hope they get some homegrown guys that can bring it like those too. Those are some big shoes to fill right there.

I sure do hate the guys that talk for us now on local tv. Bill is bill. Bull just gets on my nerves at times and i'm not going to even talk about drexler.

The new kids won't have to be 'prominent'. Just good. Very good.

Now, wouldn't one last 'How sweet it is' be really sweet sometime around Juneteenth? :)

listening to these two legends calling the game live was amazing. my coworkers were laughing at how happy they sounded.

their excitement and comraderie could be heard through the airwaves.
it was something special, they knew it. the listeners knew it.

what a great way to end your broadcasting career. to be able to call a 20 (+?) game winning streak, something you have never done as a broadcaster, hopefully this will be the year Gene can declare "How Sweet It Is" for our third banner.

it's shame some posters here have never heard this duo call a game, because the availability of live links.

I recommend giving it a try, hearing the game through Gene and Jim brings it back to the glory days.

    Long Live Jim and Gene!

I just saw Gene and Jim on YouTube calling the game. It was incredible. It brought back memories of the Championship days.

I got choked up and my eyes got watery when I heard it...sitting right there in front of my office computer. And if someone had told me that it looked like I was crying, I would have told them exactly why.

Damn I'm gonna miss those guys :(

I was on the road last night and caught the 4th quarter on the radio. I, too, loved the emotion they showed once the game was finally a done deal. Loved the call of T-Mac’s big 3-pointer in the 4th.

I remember after the Philly road loss this year, thinking how bad it was for those 2 guys to have to go out on such a crappy year after all they’ve given us as fans. No matter what happens during the playoffs, I’m glad they got to witness this streak.

I’ve been listening to those 2 guys since Rudy and Calvin’s playing days. Still remember riding to the Summit with my Dad and getting all pumped up while listening to their pre-game show. Then staying in our seats for the post game interview while all the traffic cleared out.

I’m really going to miss those guys. It just won’t be the same.

I was listening to Jay T the Brick's radio show with Tom Looney (the voice of the best damn sports show and resident liberalist of the show apparently), and they talked-very briefly-about our streak and played a sound bite of Gene, and Tom said that he is usually very boring and that Houston's radio personalities are usually boring.

Tom Looney also said that Tmac is a p*** basically, and said that he can be easily injured with "a blow of the wind."
I actually enjoy hearing Tom,usually, but this made me extremely pissed off. The media and the general public should stop believing in that stupid propaganda spread by the media who constantly paints Tmac as a fragile and weak player who is "selfish, can only score, can't get past the first round because apparently its all his burden yada yada" It only comes to show you that 95%of the media and general public (those that don't follow the Rockets closely) are bandwagoners, with only knowledge based on stereotypes and stupid propaganda.

    Okay, rant done. :)

Wow, you can't reproduce or imitate that. THat's genuine heartfelt enthusiasm. Marv Albert is great, but he is a neutral party so he doesn't have a connection to the teams he calls (like the Jordan championships).

The call by Gene and Jim is truly special. Those 2 guys breathe and live Rockets

he was the voice of the Knicks for over thirty years until the 2004 season, when he was fired for criticizing the Knicks poor play during a broadcast!
