Here are the stats at the moment
    Gasol - 10 points, 5-6, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks and +/- +8
    Duncan - 4 points, 2-5 shooting, 6 rebounds and +/- -11

So is Duncan no longer the best PF in the league or of all-time?
    Duncan is a liability defensively?
Duncan is unable to seal off his man?
Duncan is no longer a franchise player?
    Duncan is overrated?

Just using the same logic that is used around here.

Or Does Tim Duncan get some type of free pass?

Was a new thread really necessary for this?

Yes, It was. Can you help me answer the questions?

Oh, and Lamar Odom just layed it up over Duncan. I guess Tim Duncan is a soft unmobile player now.

Duncan is getting older. 2 time NBA MVP. 11 time All Defensive Team.
He complains about every "non-call", and I hate is ass, but sorry to say, none of the above.

Thread not needed... If anything, this should be in the NBA Dish.

Too many Yao lovers on this board.

if you think duncan's stature in the L is the same as it was a few years ago, you're delusional.

he's in his decline right now, and he's still very good. but it's more of a split b/t parker/duncan rather than duncan is the entire franchise like he once was.

and nobody said yao sucks my friend. he's still arguably the best center in the L.

Gasol is really, really good. I don't know why people don't understand this.

Sorry, but Tim Duncan is not in his decline. I am just using the same logic everybody else uses. Is it only illegal if I use it?

I know honestly. Gasol is one of the most underrated big men in the league. He's probably more skilled than Duncan and Yao. People don't understand that Gasol is no longer a soft player and that's he is going to be joining the group of elites soon.

I don't know what planet you're watching from.. but this is 2009 in EARTH, and Tim Duncan is on a decline.

Yeah, just go look at his stats like every one else. He's still being a 20/10 guy and he's putting up better stats than last year.

Last season, he looked like he was in his decline. He's clearly still the best big man in the game and the best power forward.

So Shaq is on an incline this year because he's having a good year? Tim Duncan will be a 20/10 until he's at least 35 IMO.. that's what makes him one of the best of all time.. he's on a decline....

Yes he deserves a free pass because he has accomplished more then Yao. The Spurs are confident that Duncan will show up for the playoffs because he's done it before.

    Yao, not so much.

i dont like knee jerk reactions anymore than you, but Yao's has had problems sealing his man for years now. He'll do it well for stretches, but then always seems to have trouble again. It's too random to conclude that he only has trouble against a certain player or players.

But i agree (or disagree  ) with everything else..

So we get to judge Yao differently after every one regular season game? But as for Duncan, It's just different?

everybody has a bad game in terms of defense, rebounding, scoring...

the problems we're talking with yao have gone on FOR 7 YEARS.

    2 totally different situations.

it's like the problem with mcgrady. he's been mentally soft for his entire career.

some things you just can't fix.
