I occasionally (not often) feel kind of bloated in my upper chest (abdominal) which causes (in my case) pains in the chest that feel similar to heartburn and pains in my upper back that feel like a pulled muscle. I'm 38M and should exercise more. My weight is around 207 (Height: 6'1"), so I'm in decent shape.

I had a cardio stress test (along with EKG, echocardiogram, ultrsound) recently to check my heart and it appears normal. My liver appears to produce the proper enzymes. My cholesterol is 230 (LDL is 160 though .:( )

Recent dinners have not been that bad. Yesterday was a sandwich day (lunch and dinner). I don't drink milk, but will have a slice of cheese on my sandwiches.

So I'm thinking it's excess gas, but do not have to cut one and when I try to burp, it won't come out. It's just very unfortable (like I said. It feels like I pulled a muscle).

I thought I would check with ClutchFans MD and see if others might have had similar symptoms that either turned out out to be minor or severe.

Is it on the right side?

Sounds like it might be gall bladder.

    Could also be an ulcer.

Could be many things. Might be a strained muscle or rib. Could be an inflamed pancreas. Could be simple heartburn.

Try gas ex to see if it helps. Also try good old fashioned alka-seltzer. Sometimes the older remedies work best.

I would see a Doctor to be better safe than sorry though.

I thought this thread was about rising prices at the pump.

If I drink a tall glass of regular orange juice i get painful gas. I have to buy low acidic stuff now.

    Gas sucks.

You might have a gallbladder stone. This would prevent bile from being released and hinder emulsification of fats. Cheese and fatty foods/oil would cause pain. Try not eating any fats at all for a few days and see how you feel.

You are 38, so this would be a likely possibility. Go see a doc.

You'll be the first to know.

Update: I took a dump at 4:55pm today. How long will it take, before your words of wisdom take effect?

Heh! And to think I came into this thread expecting to read numerous complaints about the rising gas prices.
