Trent was an outstanding player for the Mavs two years ago. He has a certain "Barkley" type low post game. He doesn't seem to fit into the Mavericks' plans.

On the other hand Moochie Norris. . . .

What do y'all think? Could we work somethin' out?

I liked Trent when he was healthy, but don't see him fitting in. How many more PFs do we need?

If trent could play center in a pinch, I'd take him in a heartbeat...

    But, he's like 6-7... So I'll pass...

I like Trent two years ago too but right now I think he's just to injury prone like VesceySux said. Even if he wasn't like Colby said we are full at PF with Taylor, Thomas and Griffin and I would play any of them over Trent right now. If we had to do a sign and trade with dallas I would take one of their guards.

    Francis3,

Never thought about it quite like that, but I'll accept some creative thinking.

Would be happy if ANYONE made Cato simply act his age. ;) ;)

I would take a chance at Trent if he was available cheap. If hes healthy I think he is a much better player than Mo Taylor.

I agree with a recent post of Scarface, about Gary Trent.

He's much better than Maurice Taylor. He rebounds more, and is probably worth the risk.

If the Rockets signed him instead of Taylor, they also would have room to sign Moochie Norris and Marc Jackson.

Too bad though, Taylor was signed to a multi-year contract.

    hmm...

I was under the impression that Trent was an injury-ridden undersized PF who had one good season once. I saw him play this year and he couldn't do anything right.

    I'd rather have Mo.

    DFBreyes,

Even if/when Trent is healthy, he is nowhere the player Mo Taylor is now. And as far as upside potential, it's not even close. Last year, when he finally recovered from his year long groin injury, he hardly got playing time with the Mavericks. When he first arrived in Dallas,he was an aggressive rebounder with some inside game. With injury after injury he has been away from the game so much that his skills have really deteriorated.

As a fallback he might fill a gap if he comes ultracheap. But we need to realize that he is more injury prone than Cato, and he is nowhere the player he once was.

Does it really matter if Mo has a whole 2 inches on him? He's 2 inches below Trent, in the category that counts...

Trent would provide some much needed muscle... What does Mo provide other than inconsistency?

ick, I don't even want to know what you're talking about.

Bottom line, Trent is not coming here. Too bad, we could use another injury-prone frontcourt player.

    I'd rather have KT too.
